Position Salary Information
Initial maximum salary placement is based on academic degree, upper/graduate level units earned, and/or related professional occupational experience per the Los Rios College Federation of Teachers Contract (the initial maximum placement is Class V, Step 8). Typical Duties
The instructional assignment may include, but is not limited to, teaching the following courses:
- DEAF 310, 312, 314, 316, 318 – American Sign Language I, II, III, IV, V
- DEAF 352 – Introduction to American Deaf Education
- DEAF 380 – American Sign Language Literature
- INTRP 300 – Ethics and Professional Standards of Interpreting
- INTRP 301 – Discourse Analysis & Translation
- INTRP 303 – Orientation to the Interpreting Profession
- INTRP 310 – Introduction to Deaf/Blind Interpreting
- INTRP 325 – Transliteration
- INTRP 334 – Introduction to Medical Interpreting
In addition, typical duties for this assignment may include:
- Serving as department chair
- Release time for coordination of the Deaf Culture & ASL - English Interpreting Resource Center
- Serving on advisory committees
- Recruitment and outreach efforts

Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or higher AND Two (2) years of professional experience OR An associate degree AND Six (6) years of professional experience OR the equivalent*. Note: Professional experience must be directly related to the assignment being taught. All degrees must be from an accredited institution completed by August 20, 2026.
