The College of Computational, Mathematical, and Physical Sciences (CCMPS) is home to over 2,300 current students, including more than 300 graduate students, supported by a diverse and highly engaged academic community across four units: the Departments of Chemistry, Mathematics and Statistics, and Physics, and the School of Computer Science. Reporting to the Provost and Vice-President (Academic) and a member of Guelph’s senior administration, the Dean of CCMPS will provide strategic direction, academic planning leadership, and administrative oversight to achieve the highest possible standards in teaching, research, and service. The Dean will lead and empower the College’s academic units to develop strategic identities and pursue opportunities that build on their complementary strengths.
The Dean, College of Computational, Mathematical, and Physical Sciences (CCMPS) is responsible for the overall management of the College, providing strategic and effective leadership for students, faculty, the University and the college community. The new Dean will be an accomplished teacher and researcher, an experienced administrator, an exceptional communicator, and an enthusiastic promoter of the value of education in the sciences within Guelph and beyond. This position is an opportunity to build upon the University of Guelph’s history of excellence and innovation to boldly lead the newly formed College of Computational, Mathematical, and Physical Sciences (CCMPS) into a dynamic, innovative and sustainable future.
The successful candidate will be an accomplished scholar, academic and visionary leader with a positive record of building strong teams, fostering academic innovation, empowering a highly productive and committed group of faculty, staff, and students, managing resources, and promoting disciplinary and interdisciplinary initiatives. Academic leadership experience will enable the new Dean to relate to a range of internal and external partners and promote excellence, equity, diversity and inclusion among faculty, staff, and students. The Dean of CCMPS will possess an open and collegial style, outstanding management, communication and interpersonal skills, a creative approach to problem solving, and a strong commitment to academic excellence in research and teaching.
