Job Summary

Under the administrative direction of the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs, the Dean of the Norris-Vincent College of Business provides strategic leadership and overall direction for the College’s academic programs, operations, and initiatives. The Dean is responsible for advancing the mission of the College by fostering excellence in teaching, scholarship, and service.

Key responsibilities include overseeing curriculum development—including dual credit and online delivery—supporting faculty development and training, managing accreditation compliance, and ensuring the highest standards of academic quality. The Dean also serves as a prominent ambassador for the College, representing its interests within the University, across the Texas Tech University System, and to external stakeholders, including community leaders, industry partners, alumni, and professional organizations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Leadership & Strategic Vision

Provide visionary leadership for the College, aligning goals and initiatives with Angelo State University’s mission and strategic priorities. Oversee reporting and compliance with all relevant accrediting and regulatory agencies.

Faculty & Staff Development

Lead recruitment, development, evaluation, and retention efforts for faculty, professional and support staff, student workers, and students enrolled in academic programs. Support faculty development initiatives and promote a collaborative, inclusive environment that fosters teaching and research excellence.

External Representation & Advancement

Serve as the College’s primary liaison to the Texas Tech University System, University administration, alumni, and community stakeholders. Actively engage in fundraising, institutional advancement, and external partnership development to enhance the College’s visibility and impact.

Academic Programs & Assessment

Oversee curriculum development and program evaluation to ensure academic quality and alignment with workforce needs. Guide assessment processes to measure student learning outcomes and improve program effectiveness. Manage dual credit offerings, online delivery strategies, and accreditation requirements to maintain program integrity.

Administrative & Operational Management

Direct the daily operations of the College, including budget development, resource allocation, and financial oversight. Ensure efficient coordination of academic, administrative, and operational activities to support faculty, staff, and student success. Foster innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement within the College’s programs and services.

Qualifications

Terminal degree in business or a closely related field from an accredited institution. Record of excellence in teaching, scholarship, and service sufficient to qualify for a tenured faculty appointment. Demonstrated success in academic leadership, including budgeting, program management, and faculty development. Experience with accreditation processes and familiarity with regulatory compliance in higher education. Strong interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills with the ability to build relationships across diverse internal and external constituencies.
