Dean of Admissions
Position Description
The Dean of Admissions serves as the senior enrollment leader overseeing the strategic direction, planning, and operational execution of both Undergraduate Admissions and Graduate Admissions. Reporting to the Vice President for Enrollment Management and Marketing, the Dean provides vision, leadership, and coordination to drive recruitment, enrollment, and yield strategies aligned with Manhattan University’s mission, values, and institutional goals.
The Dean fosters a data-informed, collaborative, and mission-centered culture across the enrollment division. This leader partners closely with academic deans, faculty, Athletics, Marketing & Communications, Finance, Jasper Central, and other stakeholders to ensure cohesive, ethical, and effective enrollment practices that support student success and institutional sustainability. The position requires an innovative, strategic, and forward-thinking professional committed to the Lasallian educational tradition.
Job Responsibilities
Strategic Enrollment Leadership:
- Develop, lead, and execute comprehensive recruitment and enrollment plans across all undergraduate and graduate pipelines.
- Oversee enrollment modeling, market analysis, funnel reporting, and forecasting to inform strategy and enhance recruitment outcomes.
- Strengthen the university’s market position through innovative outreach, partnerships, and audience-specific recruitment initiatives.
- Ensure alignment between academic program offerings, recruitment priorities, and institutional goals.
Leadership & Operational Oversight:
- Provide direct leadership to admissions representatives in both undergraduate and graduate admissions, ensuring coordinated and high-performing operations across both units.
- Recruit, mentor, and evaluate professional staff; foster accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Guide admissions committees and ensure rigorous, equitable evaluation processes for all applicant populations.
- Manage divisional budgets, allocate resources effectively, and support long-term operational planning.
Enrollment Management & Data Stewardship:
- Partner with the Director of Slate and Data Analytics to ensure optimal use of CRM (Slate) and other enrollment technologies.
- Maintain high standards of data integrity, reporting accuracy, and compliance across all enrollment operations.
- Use data-driven insights to refine recruitment strategies, strengthen yield, and enhance student success indicators.
Financial Aid & Institutional Partnerships:
- Collaborate with the Vice President for Finance, the Vice President for Enrollment Management and Marketing, and the Executive Director of Jasper Central to implement annual financial aid models that support enrollment and net revenue goals.
- In conjunction with the Vice President for Enrollment Management and Marketing, serve as liaison with Athletics compliance on all admissions matters involving student-athletes.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with academic leadership, faculty, high school counselors, community organizations, graduate program administrators, and external partners.
Marketing, Communications & Events:
- Partner with the Executive Director of Marketing and other campus stakeholders to ensure cohesive, compelling messaging across web, digital, and print communications for both undergraduate and graduate audiences.
- Collaborate with the Director of Events, Communications, and Strategy on the planning and execution of major recruitment and yield events, including, but not limited to, Open House, Accepted Students Day, graduate recruitment events, and other signature programs.
- Ensure communications and event strategies reflect best practices in audience engagement and support enrollment goals.
Compliance & Policy Management:
- Ensure adherence to all federal, state, and institutional policies, including ethical recruitment standards, accreditation expectations, and data privacy regulations.
- Maintain awareness of evolving higher education regulations and enrollment trends, adjusting practices proactively.
Other Responsibilities:
- Lead special initiatives and strategic projects as assigned by the Vice President for Enrollment Management and Marketing.
- Represent Manhattan University at regional and national conferences, committees, and professional organizations.
- Other special projects and duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s required, master’s or doctorate preferred.
- 8+ years of progressive experience leading admissions or enrollment management teams, including 5+ years at a senior leadership level (director, dean, or equivalent).
- Demonstrated experience managing CRM and database systems, with the ability to quickly develop proficiency in Slate, Banner, and other University systems.
- Strong leadership, strategic planning, and team-building capabilities.
- Proven track record of leading change and fostering cross-functional collaboration.
- Advanced analytical skills and experience using data to inform enrollment strategies.
- Exceptional communication, organizational, and relationship-building abilities.
- Deep commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion as essential to student success.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in enrollment management within a competitive or urban higher education environment.
- Familiarity with digital marketing, SEO/SEM strategies, and audience segmentation.
- Experience with international admissions and credential evaluation.
- Demonstrated success improving operational efficiency and customer service standards.
