Dean of Arts and Sciences
Job Responsibilities
To plan, develop, manage, coordinate, market and conduct training for the Arts & Science Division of Northeastern Technical College, including management and supervision of all employees and program activities.
Job Functions of the Dean of Arts and Sciences
- Assist in the development and implementation of short and long-term plans for the Arts & Science Division that supports and contributes to the achievement of College strategic objectives, goals and its mission and evaluate the effectiveness of plans and activities. Ensure that corporate and public training, and degree offerings meet the needs of the community, business, and industry served throughout the college service area of Chesterfield, Marlboro and Dillon Counties, including conducting Advisory Board Meetings with Stakeholders.
- Working with division deans, build and support all NETC education programs that can transition and generate college credit supporting student success throughout the institution service area.
- Implement a comprehensive approach to continuous improvement by using and analyzing relevant data to design, review, evaluate and revise programs, services and course management.
- Manage operational systems that result in effective administrative processes for budget management, inventory management, course programing and scheduling to ensure a sound fiscal base and ROI.
- Oversees and coordinate all areas of office functions to include student enrollment, student assistance programs, distance learning programs, internships, apprenticeships, programming, and purchasing.
- Build relationships and alliance with external constituencies to fulfill the mission, goals and objective of the College.
- Oversee and develop education course offering in partnership with Transfer Institutes to bring certifications and recognized credentials to all Workforce, Transfer and Continuing Education programs.
- Oversees the interviewing, selection, monitoring, mentoring, and evaluation of department employees to ensure quality performance of personnel.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum and Additional Requirements
A Master's degree in an Arts and Sciences field, or a Master's degree in a related discipline with at least 18 graduate semester credit hours in an Arts and Sciences field, plus six (6) years of progressively responsible related work experience. Previous supervisory experience is strongly preferred. Must have a valid driver's license.
Preferred Qualifications
The employee should demonstrate excellent written and verbal skills, an ability to facilitate open communication between college employees, administrators, and students, an ability to manage faculty in a quickly changing work environment, an understanding of the scheduling process, an ability to mediate conflicts, and an understand of and commitment to the goals of the college. This employee will answer directly to the Vice President of Academic Affairs, and will be expected to operate with minimal supervision. Also, the employee, at his/her discretion, will be expected to empower faculty when appropriate.
Additional Comments
Occasional overnight travel and weekend work might be required.
