Dean of Business, BC
Yorkville University is seeking a visionary, collaborative and student-centred academic leader to serve as their next Dean of Business, BC. This is a compelling opportunity to lead the academic direction, reputation, and impact of Yorkville in BC within a dynamic private-university environment.
The Position
Reporting to the Principal and Vice President, Academic (VPA), BC, the Dean of Business, BC serves as the academic and operational leader for the BBA Program. The Dean holds ultimate responsibility for academic integrity, internal administration, and the advancement of teaching, research, and student success. The Dean ensures that all programs remain rigorous, accessible, and aligned with institutional priorities and Senate legislation - strengthening Yorkville BC’s mission, reputation, and impact within Yorkville University and the broader academic community.
As a key member of the Campus Leadership Team, the Dean fosters collaboration across subject-areas related to business, cultivates strategic partnerships, and champions innovative initiatives that enhance student outcomes, deepen community engagement, and advance institutional goals. Through this leadership, the Dean promotes excellence in teaching, scholarship, and student achievement, while championing Yorkville University’s mission to transform lives through excellence and innovation in education.
The Ideal Candidate
While the Search Committee recognizes that no one candidate is likely to meet all the following qualifications in equal measure, they are desirable and will be used in the assessment of candidates for the position:
- Earned doctorate from a recognized/ accredited institution in a related field.
- Experience fostering interdisciplinary collaboration and integrating industry perspectives into strategic program positioning, evolution, and enhancement.
- Progressive experience in post-secondary leadership, with responsibility for academic operations, program development, accreditation, quality assurance, and long-term strategic planning.
- Proven expertise in curriculum design and academic innovation, with the ability to devise creative solutions and collaboratively implement standards for academic excellence, faculty support, and inclusive teaching in both online and in-person modalities.
- Demonstrated success in recruiting, developing, and retaining diverse faculty, supporting faculty development, working in a hybrid environment, and leading change.
- Strong external engagement, persuasion, and advocacy skills, with experience cultivating partnerships with networks, councils, professional associations, designations, and communities.
- Commitment to advancing student success through strategic initiatives that strengthen retention, completion, and graduation outcomes.
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and organizational skills, with the ability to inspire collaboration across portfolios and represent Yorkville BC Program(s) at institutional, provincial, and national levels.
- Recent applied research, scholarly activity, and publications, as well as a strong record of postsecondary teaching.
Additional Details
- This role is based in New Westminster, British Columbia
- The salary range for this role is $160,000 to $180,000 per year
