About the Project
Join an internationally recognised school for advanced digital manufacturing, specialising in 3D Concrete printing, materials and structural design.
Infrastructure and construction are the foundations upon which societies thrive. Responding to global demand for high quality, safer and more sustainable construction requires a shift toward advanced manufacturing approaches capable of improving productivity, reducing environmental impact, and enhancing long-term performance.
Your research with us would place you at the forefront of this exciting and critical field. Our research facilities include large laboratories, which contain our digital manufacturing and VR labs, we are part of the UKCRIC Laboratories network, we house world leading full scale digital manufacturing laboratories as well as the National Engineered Slope Simulator for understanding stability of the environment and infrastructure under a changing climate.
Our team is multi-disciplinary and able to support you in understanding what it takes to deliver solutions to complex real-world problems. Potential areas for your research with us could be:
- advanced structural systems
- digital fabrication automated construction
- sustainable and multifunctional materials
- automated inspection, repair and life-extension technologies
- resilient structures under evolving hazards

Tuition fees for 2026-27 entry
- UK fee - £5,238 Full-time degree per annum
- International fee - £29,500 Full-time degree per annum
Fees for the 2026-27 academic year apply to projects starting in October 2026, February 2027 and July 2027.
UK tuition fees for 2026/27 are currently to be confirmed pending the release of the UKRI recommended rates. Once published, these rates will be subject to formal approval by the University before being confirmed.
