Dental Assistant (2 Vacancies)
Position Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Dental Assistant within the Department of Restorative Dentistry at the Rutgers School of Dental Medicine (RSDM).
The Dental Assistant performs chair-side and desk-side duties for the Department of Restorative Dentistry within the Prosthodontics Postgraduate Program. The Dental Assistant also assists during examination and treatment of patients and dispenses dental materials and instruments. Additionally, the Dental Assistant performs clerical, sterilizing, and miscellaneous tasks for the program, as well as serves as dispensary clerk on an as‑needed basis.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
- Takes, develops and mounts x-rays; maintains x-ray solutions and developer along with the maintenance of x-ray cleaning log.
- Charts examination under the direction of the doctor.
- Assists in implant procedures.
- Maintains inventory of implant components.
- Serves as backup sterilization assistant, cleans ultrasonic units as needed.
- Prepares clinical kits for students.
- Cleans up all discharged bodily fluid immediately.
- Prepares unit for provider and patient.
- Sets and drapes the patient to prepare for treatment.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Education and Experience:
- Certificate of Dental Assistant and Radiology Licensure.
- Primary Source Verification: Dental Assisting National Board.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Standing, sitting, walking, talking and hearing.
- Must be able to lift, push and pull.
- No special vision requirements.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Busy clinic. Moderate noise.
