Job Summary

Assist dental students, residents, and faculty in treating patients requiring emergency restorative, prosthodontics, periodontics, endodontics, and oral surgery. Participate in 4-handed dentistry, handle instruments, mix materials, manage patient issues, and follow infection control protocols.

Responsibilities

• Chair side assistance: Assist with air, water, instruments, rubber dam placement, local anesthetic, and high volume evacuation.
• Instruments and instruction: Operate dental x-ray equipment, explain procedures, stock supplies, maintain equipment, clean and package instruments, and assist with patient appointments.
• Other duties: Perform all other job-related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent with one year of related experience, or Certified Dental Assistant with an Associate's degree or higher in a related field.

Preferred Qualifications

Graduation from a certified Dental Assisting program with 3 years of experience, including mixing materials, taking x-rays, and chair side skills in multiple disciplines.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

• Knowledge of oral structures, tooth anatomy, dental instruments, lab procedures, and 4-handed dentistry.
• Skills in flexibility and adaptability.
• Abilities to maintain confidentiality, select rubber dam clamps, transition between procedures, and work in fast-paced environments.
