Job Description: The Dental Equipment Maintenance and Repair Technician is responsible for the preventive maintenance, calibration, troubleshooting, and repair of all dental equipment and related systems within the LMU-CDM. This position ensures that dental chairs, delivery systems, sterilizers, radiographic units, handpieces, and other specialized equipment are in safe and optimal working conditions to support patient care, clinical training, and research activities.
Required Qualifications: Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in dental equipment repair or biomedical equipment maintenance. Knowledge of dental/medical equipment systems, electronics, pneumatics, hydraulics, and sterilization equipment. Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, diagrams, and schematics. Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Effective communication skills to work with faculty, staff, students, and vendors. Ability to lift and move equipment (up to 50 lbs.) and work in clinical/lab environments.
Physical Demands: Working Conditions: Based in the Dental School Clinics/Labs. Regular exposure to clinical and laboratory environments. May require occasional evening or weekend work to support urgent repairs.

- Perform routine preventive maintenance and inspections on all dental equipment.
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair dental chairs, handpieces, sterilizers, x-ray units, compressors, vacuum systems, and other dental/clinical equipment.
- Maintain accurate service records, repair logs, and preventive maintenance schedules.
- Coordinate with dental faculty, staff, and students to identify equipment issues and prioritize repairs.
- Order and maintain inventory of replacement parts and supplies needed for equipment upkeep.
- Ensure compliance with manufacturer guidelines, OSHA regulations, and infection control standards.
- Assist with installation and setup of new dental equipment.
- Collaborate with outside vendors and service providers as needed for specialized repairs.
- Provide training or guidance to staff on proper equipment use and basic care.
- Respond promptly to urgent repair requests to minimize clinical downtime.
