Dental Hygienist - Journey - General Dentistry - Spruce Pine

This position is located in Spruce Pine, NC. The purpose of this position is to function as a dental hygienist in the School of Dental Medicine clinics and Community Service Learning Centers.

Job Duties: Under the direct supervision of a qualified dentist, perform tasks such as: reviewing and revising patient histories and recording vital signs; acquainting patients with preventive-oriented practice philosophy; charting existing restorations and clinical disease; performing oral prophylaxes including ultrasonic cleaning, scaling, polishing, and flossing; educating and motivating patients on plaque removal and control with nutritional guidance; applying topical fluorides and occlusal sealants; making study models; explaining treatment alternatives; recording treatment on patient charts; exposing, processing, and mounting x-rays; assisting chair-side as needed; handling instrument sharpening, sterilization, and maintenance; reconfirming and appointing patients; escorting patients; cleaning and disinfecting operatories; maintaining supplies; managing patient recall systems; aiding front desk duties; and participating in staff meetings. Also, educate dental students and residents.

Minimum Education/Experience: Licensed to practice as a Dental Hygienist in the State of North Carolina.

License or Certification Required: Licensed to practice as a Dental Hygienist in the State of North Carolina.
