Geneva College invites applications for a tenure-track position as the Director of the Engineering Center and Department Chair of Engineering. This position begins August 2026. Review of applications will commence in mid-January, and the position will remain open until filled.

Summary of Responsibilities:

The Engineering Center Director and Chair of Engineering reports directly to the Provost and will have oversight over the Engineering Department and the activities of the Engineering Center. As chair, this individual will provide oversight and implementation of ABET approved departmental programs which include biomedical, chemical, civil, computer, electrical, environmental, and mechanical engineering. The Engineering Chair serves as the official representative of and spokesperson for the Engineering Department. As Director of the Engineering Center, this individual would foster strategic relationships and engage in foundation and alumni cultivation.

Essential Responsibilities:

1. Teach six contact hours per semester
2. Adequately prepare all course materials and lessons (Note: preparation time will vary based on instructor experience in teaching that course)
3. Provide each student with clear course expectations, evaluations, and timelines through carefully written topical outlines and approved syllabus per faculty established guidelines
4. Provide interesting and relevant assignments for students that demonstrate learning outcomes in a real-life setting
5. Suitably challenge, engage, support, and communicate with students to encourage their participation and learning while maintaining mutual value and respect
6. Complete grade books, final grade sheets, learning assessments and final exam assessments on a timely basis
7. Respond to student questions on a timely basis
8. Ensure course and program learning outcomes are delivered as defined by the syllabus

Specific Responsibilities:

1. Strategic Relationships
   1. Engage in community leadership initiatives and develop networking opportunities with local businesses in cooperation with the AVP of Strategic Partnerships.
   2. Promote the program externally at community events and with industry partners etc.
   3. Development of placement opportunities, cooperative work and sponsorships
2. Foundation and Alumni Cultivation
   1. Develop engineering alumni relationships for networking opportunities for placement and program development.
   2. Lead Engineering Center fundraising with the Geneva College Foundation.
   3. Provide support at alumni events for fundraising initiatives
3. Administrative Leadership of the Engineering Department
   1. Oversee and regularly review the curriculum in the Engineering program.
   2. Ensure that the degree programs fulfill the requirements of ABET accreditation.
   3. Devise schedules for course offerings and for the teaching assignments of both full-time and part-time faculty members
   4. Recommend improvements for Engineering Center departmental facilities and equipment
   5. Develop and maintain a statement that articulates the meaning of the integration of faith and learning within the department

Job Requirements - Administrative:

2. Physical: Must be able to perform the following: talking, hearing, and seeing. Must have sufficient manual dexterity to be able to operate all office equipment including, but not limited to computers, printers, copiers, scanners, and telephones.

Qualifications:

1. Minimum:
   1. Education/Certification: Candidate must have obtained a doctorate in Engineering or a related field from an accredited U.S. college/university or international equivalent.
   2. Experience: minimum of 5-7 years of higher education experience.
   3. Skill/Abilities: Candidate must be able to teach coursework in biomedical, chemical, civil, computer, electrical, environmental, or mechanical engineering.
   4. Christian Commitment: An eligible candidate must be a thoughtful and articulate Christian and an active member of a Protestant evangelical Christian church. Preference will be given to the candidate who supports and has an articulate understanding of the Reformed faith. An eligible candidate must understand and support the College’s “Foundational Concepts of Christian Education” by expressing an evangelical Christian profession of faith and demonstrate the ability to integrate a Christian perspective in their work.
2. Preferred:
   1. Education/Certification: PhD in Mechanical Engineering preferred.
   2. Experience: Previous experience in higher education administration preferred.
   3. Skill/Abilities: Preferred candidates will be able to teach courses in mechanical engineering and lead students in Senior Design projects.
