Department of Music - Part-time Lecturer Pool
The Department of Music at California State University, San Bernardino (CSUSB) is seeking to expand its lecturer pool for a range of lower-division and upper-division courses in all areas, including: voice, woodwinds, strings, brass, percussion, Mariachi, as well as music technology, music industry studies, music therapy, music education for schools, composition, arranging, and more.
JOB SUMMARY
Both our lower-division and upper-division undergraduate courses are 1-unit, 2-unit, or 3-unit courses. Each is taught twice a week on campus (at our San Bernardino campus) during the Fall and Spring semesters (15 weeks each). Instructors prepare their own syllabi, assignments, classroom activities, lecture materials, and grading rubrics, and teach the courses following department guidelines. Instructors of these courses also hold limited office hours in which they can meet with students who need help, have questions, and require advice about their coursework.
TYPICAL ACTIVITIES
Qualified candidates must demonstrate a commitment to excellence in teaching and mentoring a diverse student population and to working collaboratively and effectively with other faculty, staff and students. Typical duties include: preparing all materials for teaching assigned courses, in-class teaching, and evaluating student coursework and grading assignments.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Master of Arts degree in Music, or a suitably related discipline. Candidates with compensating industry experience will also be considered.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Degree in hand by time of appointment (MA in Music, or equivalent/suitably related discipline). Demonstration of teaching experience at higher education level.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Ph.D. or equivalent and/or evidence of scholarly activity, production experience, and publications are all valued.
