English didactics is a central component of English teacher training. As an academic discipline, it deals with the empirical research of key questions relating to the teaching and learning of English, as well as with their theoretical modeling and historical analysis.
The focus of the Heim research area is primarily at the interface between foreign language didactics and school development, both in secondary and primary education. Related to this are questions relating to English teaching in the schools of the future, learner autonomy, the fulfillment of basic psychological needs in English teaching, digitalization, and social inclusion. In the area of teacher training, the focus is on plan-do-review cycles of action research, the strengthening of planning skills, the project- and task-based integration of practical school elements into didactic seminars, and reflective processes that incorporate the previous experiences and mindsets of (future) teachers.
Area of responsibility:
- Collaboration in research and teaching in the field of English didactics
- Collaboration in the home work area
- Conducting courses (in English) in accordance with the teaching obligation regulations in teacher training courses (BA and MA, primary school, ISS/grammar school)
- Supervision of internships
- Collaboration in academic self-administration
The activity serves the purpose of one's own scientific qualification (doctorate).
Requirements:
Completed university degree in English (Master's or State Examination in Teaching)
Desired:
- Excellent academic qualification (Master's degree in teaching or state examination)
- German language skills C2, English at least C1, according to CEFR
- Very solid subject-specific didactic and subject-specific skills
- Teaching experience (school and/or university)
- Interest in teamwork
- If possible, experience in university-specific organizational, coordination, and administrative tasks
- If possible, research interests that relate to the focus of the field of work
