"Deputy Director - Facilities Management Department"

This position serves as the Deputy Director of the Facilities Management Department at CUNY John Jay College, reporting directly to the Chief Administrative Superintendent of Buildings and Grounds. In the absence of the Director, this role assumes full responsibility for the Facilities Department.

General Duties: Under general direction, oversees areas such as cleaning, operating, maintaining, repairing, and improving the physical plant and grounds. Responsibilities include reviewing repair/service requests, establishing preventive maintenance plans, implementing sustainability and energy-saving measures, and liaising with outside vendors, contractors, and regulatory entities. Assists in supervising staff for safe operations, prepares annual budgets, directs staff in repairs and maintenance, trains on equipment and safety, evaluates requests, oversees vehicle fleet, manages waste and toxic materials, and ensures compliance with specifications.

Campus Specific Information: John Jay College is a senior college of CUNY, focusing on justice-related education. This position manages all trades, with specific duties in electrical and carpentry. Additional responsibilities include overseeing the college's electrical distribution system, managing a $5MM switchgear replacement project, ensuring compliance with agencies like EPA and OSHA, scheduling equipment for energy conservation, using Siemens BMS and Archibus systems, coordinating with event planners, serving on the Sustainability Council, developing energy strategies, assisting with snow removal, liaising with FDNY, and providing coverage for other superintendents. This is an essential employee position.

Minimum Qualifications: A Baccalaureate degree in a related field and four years of related experience, including two years of managerial experience; or equivalent qualifications with relevant licenses and experience. An advanced degree may substitute for additional experience.

Other Qualifications: Proficiency in Microsoft Office, ability to read blueprints, and knowledge of NYC codes.

Compensation: Salary range of $105,000 - $115,000, commensurate with experience. CUNY offers comprehensive benefits.
