Job Summary:
The Deputy Title IX Coordinator / Equal Opportunity Specialist
supports the Institute’s commitment to an equitable, inclusive, and
discrimination-free living, learning, and working environment. The
position provides dedicated support for the effective
administration of the Institute’s Title IX, Equal Opportunity,
Title VI, and related civil rights compliance programs, helping
ensure fair, thorough, and supportive processes for all
participants.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree.
- Five (5) or more years of progressively responsible experience
in Title IX, employee relations, civil rights or equal opportunity
compliance, investigations, human resources, higher education
administration, student affairs, or a related field, including
substantial experience in the practical application of federal and
state equal opportunity and civil rights laws.
Experience administering Title IX or comparable civil rights
investigation, resolution, and compliance processes.
Experience analyzing complex factual situations and developing,
interpreting, and applying complex policies and procedures.
Title IX compliance training or certification, or the ability
to complete appropriate training within sixty (60) days of
employment.
Relevant combinations of education, training and experience may be
considered.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's Degree.
- Higher education experience.
- Experience conducting Title IX, Equal Employment Opportunity
(EEO), workplace, student conduct, or civil rights
investigations.
- Certification or specialized training in Title IX compliance or
investigation procedures. SUNY Student Conduct Institute, NACUA,
ATIXA, or other industry-related certifications are preferred.
Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of and demonstrated ability to interpret federal and
state harassment and non-discrimination laws and regulations,
including Title VI, Title VII, Title IX, and other applicable
federal, state and local laws and regulations.
- Ability to prioritize and coordinate multiple complex projects
simultaneously while adhering to strict deadlines.
- Strong presentation and facilitation skills with emphasis on
education and training.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy of work.
- Ability to exercise sound judgment and maintain the highest
level of confidentiality.
- Ability to navigate sensitive and difficult situations with
professionalism, discretion, and respect for all participants.
- Ability to both work independently and establish effective
working relationships with internal and external partners.
- Ability to work with sensitive information in a high volume,
fast-paced environment with changing priorities and meet
established goals and objectives.
- Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
Representative Job Duties:
- Serve as Deputy Title IX Coordinator, coordinating and
administering Title IX processes in a fair, consistent, and
unbiased manner, including delegated responsibilities related to
intake, supportive measures, notices, case management, informal and
formal resolution processes, and other program requirements. -
- Receive reports and complaints involving discrimination,
harassment, sexual misconduct, and retaliation; conduct intake and
initial assessment; and coordinate appropriate response, supportive
measures, referrals, notifications, and resolution processes in a
manner that promotes fairness and respect for the rights of all
parties.
- Conduct thorough, impartial investigations involving alleged
discrimination, harassment, retaliation, and other civil rights or
Institute policy violations, as assigned.
- Maintain accurate and complete confidential case files,
records, databases, and compliance documentation.
- Develop and deliver training, education, prevention, and
outreach programs related to Title IX, Equal Opportunity,
discrimination, harassment, and respectful workplace practices for
students, faculty, and staff.
- Support Equal Opportunity initiatives, including employment
data analysis and identification of potential barriers to equal
opportunity in recruitment, hiring, and advancement.
- Monitor changes in applicable laws and regulations and
recommend appropriate updates to policies, procedures, training,
and educational materials, and contribute to institutional,
federal, and state data reporting and compliance reviews. -
- Analyze trends and data, identify emerging culture and climate
concerns related to equal opportunity and civil rights, and
recommend responsive interventions and improvements to Institute
programs, practices, and processes.
- Collaborate with Student Experience, legal counsel, managers
and supervisors, and other campus partners regarding policy,
compliance, and appropriate response to concerns.
- Other duties as assigned.

Starting Salary/Rate:
Expected hiring range: $83,600 - $100,000

will be determined based on factors that include the available
budget, internal equity, and the final candidate’s qualifications,
experience, education and other job-related credentials. This
hiring range is provided as Rensselaer’s good faith estimate of the
