Job Description
Reporting to the Secretary for Compliance and Title VI Coordinator, the Deputy Title VI Coordinator and Case Manager will assist in ensuring Harvard University’s compliance with federal, state, and local non-discrimination laws, with a focus on Title VI. Working within Harvard’s Office for Community Conduct (OCC), the role involves providing consultation on claims of discrimination under Harvard University’s Non-Discrimination and Anti-Bullying Policies, including shared ancestry discrimination and other protected statuses.
Core Responsibilities:
- Case Management: Manage and resolve cases of discrimination, consult on complaints of antisemitism and other forms of shared ancestry discrimination, and maintain records of inquiries, complaints, investigations, and resolutions.
- Policy and Compliance: Serve as a community resource for policy guidance, assist with case intake and review, and advise on risks, trends, and best practices related to Title VI compliance.
- Training and Education: Promote awareness of NDAB policies, develop and disseminate training materials on Title VI, and partner to implement strategies for improving campus culture and climate.
- Data Analysis and Reporting: Supervise preparation of annual reports on complaints, including antisemitism, and monitor trends related to hostile environments under Title VI.
Qualifications
Candidates must have a J.D., at least 5 years of experience in civil rights compliance or related work, and at least 3 years of experience with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. Additional skills include mediation experience, strong analytical and communication skills, and ability to handle sensitive situations.
