Position Description

Qualify and cultivate current and prospective donors at the leadership annual giving level to identify donor interests and solicit meaningful gifts. Collaborate with Major Gift Officers to cultivate, solicit and steward prospects and donors while adhering to the prospect management system. Work is performed under moderate supervision with latitude for initiative.

About the Department and/or College

The Texas Tech University Office of Advancement works with a broad array of university supporters to identify and match opportunities at the university with the interests of donors, ultimately facilitating impact in higher education that leads to endless possibilities. Our professional fundraising team members are responsible for building meaningful relationships with donors through consistent interaction and meaningful visits that move them through the donor cultivation cycle. Texas Tech University recently announced the public phase of its first comprehensive campaign, On & On. The campaign is focused on philanthropic impact in four areas: Transform Lives, Fuel Academic Excellence, Elevate Campus & Community, and Build Champions. The campaign has a goal of raising $1.2B in philanthropic support before August 31, 2028.

The Development Associate for Leadership Annual Giving manages a portfolio of mid-level donors, focusing on retention, reactivation, and growth of annual gifts. Through strategic outreach and relationship-building, this role strengthens donor engagement while identifying and qualifying future major gift prospects to support Texas Tech's long-term fundraising pipeline.

Major/Essential Functions

  • Manage a portfolio of 200-250 leadership giving level prospects and donors.
  • Develop and implement a moves management strategy (discovery, qualification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship) for individuals with capacity to give annually at a leadership level ($500-5,000).
  • Collaborate with colleagues within advancement and across campus to advance fundraising efforts that align with university priorities.
  • Adhere to and instill best practices to make effective use of the prospect management database, including entering contact reports after each visit to ensure donor records are kept up to date.
  • Meet goals for key metrics including substantial contacts, visits, asks and gift secured as established each fiscal year.
  • Represent the university at business and community meetings and events in a professional manner while adhering to TTU policies.
  • Work collaboratively with TTUS Institutional Advancement, the TTU Office of Advancement and colleagues to focus on shared strategic goals.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree plus one year related experience; OR a combination of education and/or related experience equal to five years.

$36,800 - $47,800 - $58,900
