Essential Job Duties
Reporting to the associate director of special projects and initiatives, the development associate provides critical support to University Development to strengthen relationships with donors and campus partners. The role operates with a high level of independence to manage and coordinate a broad range of responsibilities, including financial processes, reporting and data management, events, communications, and scheduling for the leadership team. The development associate will oversee gift logistics, managing gift transmittals, invoices, and agreements; logging gifts; maintaining chartfields; and supporting annual and special initiatives that require coordinated gift processing.
This position proactively generates, reviews, and distributes reports related to prospects and donors to support strategic decision-making. The development associate facilitates communication with a wide range of constituents, including donors, prospects, volunteers, and campus colleagues, and supports meetings and events and programmatic initiatives across University Development.
Success in this position requires exceptional organizational and prioritization skills, along with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. The development associate develops and maintains detailed schedules, project plans, and status reports, ensuring alignment with team priorities and timely execution of key deliverables.
Other Work/Responsibilities
- Maintain a strong understanding of organizational policies and procedures.
- Work collaboratively with administrative staff across University Advancement to provide coverage and support as needed.
- Support University Development leadership and team members with special projects and strategic initiatives.
- Attend meetings and events as required.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Experience/Education
Bachelor's degree; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
Required Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience providing high-level administrative, operational, or program support in a complex, fast-paced environment
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities independently, exercising sound judgment, discretion, and attention to detail
- Experience with financial processes and administrative coordination (e.g., expenses, reimbursements, tracking, or transactional workflows)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to prepare reports, correspondence, and briefing materials for leadership
- Experience working with databases, CRM systems, or data/reporting tools (e.g., Salesforce or similar platforms) to manage and interpret information
Preferred Qualifications
