Position Overview

The Development Coordinator for Children's Programs is a key member of the School for Children (SFC) Development Office, responsible for optimizing the experience and touchpoints of stakeholders through the execution of major fundraising and community engagement opportunities throughout the school year. Reporting to the Director of Development for Children's Programs, this role collaborates closely with school leadership and volunteers to ensure the success of development initiatives. Additionally, the Development Coordinator for Children's Programs will assist in administrative tasks related to donor outreach and solicitation efforts.

Primary Responsibilities

Event Planning and Community Engagement:

  • Serve as the lead planner for key fundraising and community events, including but not limited to Fall Fair, Leadership Reception, Grandparents Day, and the Children's Programs Benefit & Auction.
  • Work collaboratively with relevant departments to design, coordinate, and implement event logistics including date selection, event setup and breakdown, communications, invitations, RSVPs, and catering.
  • Coordinate volunteer participation for events, ensuring strong engagement from the school community.
  • Track event budgets and maintain accurate records of event expenses and revenue.
  • Gather feedback from stakeholders to assess event impact and identify opportunities for improvement.

Community Relations:

  • Act as liaison with the Parent Association; work closely with PA Co-Presidents and various committee chairs to support PA projects and initiatives.
  • Partner with school leadership and faculty to ensure alignment between development efforts and school-wide priorities.
  • Foster a culture of philanthropy within the school community by promoting engagement and participation in fundraising activities.

Fundraising Support:

  • Assist the Director of Development with donor relations including preparing solicitation materials and stewardship reports.
  • Track donor outreach, giving and stewardship.
  • Maintain and update donor records in the school's database, ensuring accurate and timely data entry.
  • Support the execution of annual fundraising campaigns, including direct mail appeals and online giving initiatives.
  • Coordinate logistics for donor meetings, including scheduling, preparation of materials, and follow-up communications.
  • Conduct prospect research to identify potential donors and engagement opportunities.

Qualifications

While Bank Street will consider a broad range of backgrounds, the ideal candidate will have the following qualifications/competencies:

  • Bachelor's degree required, with 4+ years of experience in event planning, fundraising, or nonprofit administration.
  • Experience planning and executing fundraising events.
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities simultaneously: excellent organizational, technological and follow-up skills
  • High intrinsic motivation and capacity for work, strong interpersonal skills, discretion, flexibility, proactivity, sterling independent judgment, and a sense of humor
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment that values collaboration and partnership.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders, including staff, volunteers, and donors.
  • Proficiency in donor database management and Google Office Suite; experience with fundraising software is required, familiarity with Blackbaud's Raiser's Edge is a plus.
  • Knowledge of fundraising best practices and donor stewardship principles is preferred.
  • Ability to work mornings, evenings, and weekends as needed.
  • This position is required to be in-person a minimum of four days/week on a rotational basis. Additionally, there are team-wide reasons (retreats, meetings, events) that require in-person attendance.
  • Independent School experience is a plus
