Development Officer
Job Summary
- Initiates and assumes responsibility for the identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of a portfolio and/or a region of prospects and donors.
- Plays a major role in the planning, implementation, and coordination of fundraising activities by coordinating and driving specific engagement strategies.
- Serves as the unit liaison among internal and external stakeholder groups, cultivating relationships, and providing organizational information and representing the interests of the unit.
- Advances knowledge of the university's missions, goals of the individual unit, and development program objectives.
- Facilitates productive relationships daily between donors and top IU administrators, faculty, and staff to ensure effectiveness of donor strategy plans to meet their individual goals.
- May provide guidance to other staff engaged in fundraising/development activities.
Qualifications
Combinations of related education and experience may be considered. Education beyond the minimum required may be substituted for work experience. Work experience beyond the minimum required may be substituted for education.
EDUCATION
Required
- Bachelor's degree in a related field.
WORK EXPERIENCE
Required
- 5 years of experience in fundraising/development, sales, communications, public relations, a higher education foundation, or a related field.

Working Conditions / Demands
This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment and the campus. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.
