DevOps Engineer DANS
Job Description
You will ensure smooth operations between platform providers, operational systems, and developers in the ICT Support Team. Your responsibilities include handling deployments, operational testing, and maintaining the availability and usability of DANS data services and APIs. You will manage implementation in the production environment, including integration and security tests, and oversee the operational readiness and availability of systems and services, documenting all aspects including dependencies.
You are responsible for developing and implementing a verifiable backup and failover plan for DANS. You will manage the architecture and platforms in collaboration with the Development Team, R&D Engineers, and ICT Support, maintaining a Platform Architecture Roadmap. This includes working on specifications and standards for container implementation and potential future serverless implementation. You will assess, implement, and mitigate security issues, ensure the use and specifications for encrypted storage of deposited data, and handle daily maintenance and support.
Requirements
We seek an enthusiastic professional with a completed HBO or academic education in a relevant IT field, or proven experience and knowledge in this area. You should be familiar with: Linux (RHEL/Ubuntu), Ansible, Docker, Terraform/OpenTofu, Kubernetes, BASH, Python. Experience as a DevOps Engineer is required, and it is a plus if you are knowledgeable in hardware, storage, network security, Cloud technology, and Zabbix. You are customer-oriented, highly communicative, able to translate customer queries into effective ICT solutions, and have demonstrable experience with production systems. You must be proficient in both Dutch and English, work independently with a goal-oriented mindset, and thrive in team collaboration, preferably with academically trained teams.
Terms of Employment
Employment contract for a fixed term of 1 year. Salary ranges from a minimum of €3,546 to a maximum of €5,538 gross per month for a full-time position (38 hours per week, scale 10, cao Nederlandse Universiteiten/KNAW), excluding 8% holiday allowance, 8.3% end-of-year bonus, travel allowance, internet and home working allowance, and pension build-up with ABP. The KNAW offers an excellent package of secondary benefits. Work location is at Anna van Saksenlaan in The Hague, with the possibility to work from home up to 50%.
