Diagnostic Xray Supervisor - Diagnostic Xray/Fluoro IP- IRV - FT - Day
Position Summary
Reporting to the Assistant Director of Imaging, the X-ray Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the operations of the Diagnostic Radiology department at the Irvine campus, ensuring high-quality patient care and operational efficiency. The incumbent performs the full range of routine and advanced diagnostic radiologic procedures while also assuming leadership responsibilities. These include supervising staff through participation in hiring decisions, onboarding, training and competency assessments, conducting performance evaluations, and administering corrective actions when necessary. The supervisor ensures appropriate staffing levels and efficient scheduling to support inpatient, outpatient, emergency, and surgical services. They are responsible for maintaining equipment functionality, coordinating regular maintenance, and contributing to equipment replacement planning. The role also includes oversight of PACS and RIS integrity in collaboration with informatics and IT teams to ensure seamless image acquisition and reporting workflows. Additional duties involve supporting budget planning, implementing cost containment strategies, and leading quality management initiatives such as performance improvement projects, image quality audits, dose monitoring, and maintaining compliance with regulatory standards including those from The Joint Commission, ACR, and CDPH. The supervisor ensures all departmental policies and procedures are current and compliant, collaborates with interdisciplinary teams to support patient throughput and continuity of care, and leads service recovery efforts to promote patient satisfaction. They also contribute to disaster preparedness planning, stay informed on emerging radiologic technologies, assist in implementing new systems and workflows, and support related staff education. The X-ray Supervisor serves as a key liaison among radiologists, technologists, administration, and other departments, facilitating communication and promoting continuous operational improvement.
What It Takes to be Successful
Required Qualifications:
- Fluoroscopy license/certification
- Current BLS certification
- CRT license/certification
- Bachelor's degree in related area and/or equivalent experience and training
- ARRT license/certification
- A minimum of 3 years of experience as a Radiologic Technologist
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous supervisory or Lead technologist experience
- Familiarity with accreditation processes
