In a world shaped by digital transformation, technology must not only be developed but also understood and shaped by society. The Digital City Studio is a response to this challenge — a space where research meets the public, and digital futures are co-created by everyone.
The Digital City Studio is a collaborative initiative between IT:U and the City of Linz. It represents a new way of thinking about public engagement, science communication, and the role of technology in society. The Digital City studio fosters engaged and proactive dialogue through science communication and Citizen Science events around new technologies and “hot topics” like AI, the impacts of social media on individuals and society, safety of democracy, climate change effects, or quantum computing.
Your tasks and responsibilities:
- Coordinate and plan outreach activities in the Digital City Studio, together with IT:U research groups and the City of Linz
- Design and deliver engaging science communication and citizen science workshops for schools and the broad public
- Organise and set up the logistics of public events, exhibitions, demos
- Support the acquisition of research funding (conceiving and writing grant proposals)
- Monitor and evaluate the reach and impact of the outreach activities
- Co-develop and actively shape the future development strategy of the Digital City Studio
- Stakeholder communication: engage and acquire schools, broad public, public authorities, etc. for the DCS workshops
Your strengths and skills:
- Degree (MSc or BSc) in one of the following areas: information systems, computer science or related field.
- Affinity to AI, digital technologies, etc.
- Strong communication skills with enthusiasm for speaking in public
- Deep understanding and interest in new technologies and impacts on society
- Additionally: experience in writing grant proposals and acquiring private funding
- English and German on a minumim level of C1 required
