Job Description
The Hunt Library seeks a detail-oriented and technically skilled
Digital Collections Specialist to manage and contribute to
digitization and digital collections initiatives within Archives
& Special Collections. This position will preserve and expand
access to the library’s unique collections by preparing materials
for digitization, organizing and managing digital assets, creating
and reviewing metadata, and supporting digital preservation and
quality control practices.
This position offers an opportunity to apply existing library or
cultural heritage experience while developing and expanding
specialized skills in digital collections, digitization, and
digital preservation. Demonstrated technical aptitude, responsive
communication, attention to detail, and willingness to learn are
highly valued. The successful candidate will work collaboratively
with library staff, exercise sound judgment when managing projects
and digital assets, follow established standards and workflows, and
communicate proactively about project progress, questions, and
challenges.

Qualifications
Required Education
Minimum Qualifications
- 1–3 years of experience working in a library, archives, museum,
historical organization, or other cultural heritage
environment.
- Demonstrated attention to detail and ability to maintain
accuracy when working with large quantities of information, digital
files, and descriptive data.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple
projects, prioritize work, and follow established procedures and
workflows.
- Demonstrated computer proficiency and ability to learn and
effectively use new software, systems, and technologies.
- Ability to work independently with moderate to minimal guidance
and collaborate successfully with colleagues on projects and
initiatives.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with digitization, scanning, digital photography, or
image processing.
- Experience with digital asset management systems, digital
collections platforms, repositories, archival management systems,
or related library technologies such as JSTOR Stewardship,
ArchivesSpace, CONTENTdm, or Alma
- Familiarity with metadata concepts or standards such as Dublin
Core, MARC, XML, or similar schemas.
- Familiarity with digital preservation concepts and
practices.
- Experience organizing and managing large quantities of digital
files.
- Experience with relational databases, scripting, batch metadata
updates, or other technologies used to manage digital
collections.
- Ability to learn new digital tools, software, and technologies
quickly.
