Digital Futures and Responsible AI (Ref: LB26-SF-002)
About the Project
As digital transformation reshapes every aspect of modern life, we’re asking how organisations, economies and societies can navigate change responsibly.
Digitalisation, artificial intelligence, automation, and data-driven innovation. The evolution of new and existing technologies is continuing to accelerate, opening new opportunities and presenting serious challenges for individuals, organisations and societies.
Our researchers are working together to examine the impact of technological development across a wide range of sectors. From manufacturing and supply chains to finance, healthcare and public services, work in this theme examines how digital technologies can improve productivity, enable smarter decision-making and foster more inclusive and sustainable growth.
Even as we explore the benefits of technology, we are investigating the ethical, social and environmental implications of digital transformation, including questions of fairness, transparency and digital decarbonisation.
At Loughborough Business School, we’re studying how individuals interact with technology at work and in society, exploring issues such as digital wellbeing, platform work, AI-driven recruitment and the social effects of online communication.
This is a deeply collaborative and interdisciplinary theme, uniting expertise from information systems, management, marketing, engineering and the social sciences. By combining technical understanding with ethical reflection and practical application, the research seeks to shape a digital future that supports human progress, organisational resilience and global responsibility.
