Digital Innovation and Integrated Processing of Titanium and Beryllium Materials for High-Tech Applications

About the Project

The project concerns research into sustainable processing, digital innovation, and advanced characterisation of critical raw materials, with a particular focus on titanium (Ti) and beryllium (Be). As part of the Horizon Europe TIBeRIUM project, the research aims to support the development of resilient and sustainable supply chains for strategically important raw materials through the integration of advanced mineral processing, metallurgical technologies, process modelling, and Digital Twin approaches. The project will investigate integrated and sustainable processing routes for Ti and Be resources, including process optimisation, digitalisation of mineral and metallurgical systems, and advanced characterisation of processing products and end materials for high-tech applications. A particular emphasis will be placed on the development of Digital Twin frameworks for mineral processing and metallurgical operations, alongside qualification and validation of products for advanced industrial sectors.

The successful candidate will work within an international multidisciplinary consortium involving universities, research institutes, and industrial partners across Europe and Central Asia. The project provides opportunities to engage with cutting-edge research in critical raw materials, sustainable processing technologies, advanced materials, digital technologies, and circular economy approaches. You will work within a vibrant and rapidly growing research environment at the University of Lincoln and collaborate closely with academic, industrial, and international project partners involved in the TIBeRIUM consortium. The position offers excellent opportunities for interdisciplinary research, industrial engagement, international collaboration, and professional development within the rapidly evolving field of critical raw materials and sustainable resource technologies.
