Digital Technology Officer, Production Assistant

About the opportunity

The Digital Technology Officer, Production Assistant is a full-time, on-campus role supporting media production projects within the Digital Media Unit (DMU). Ideal for a new graduate or entry-level candidate with a basic understanding of media production, the role involves operating video, audio, and lighting equipment, managing media files, supporting post-production workflows, and maintaining studio and location setups. You'll be joining a supportive and inclusive team that values collaboration and continuous learning. The role also requires attention to detail, basic troubleshooting skills, familiarity with WHS practices, and the ability to work independently within established procedures.

Key Responsibilities

  • provide technical support for media production projects, including studio and location setups
  • operate video, audio, and lighting equipment under direction, adhering to established workflows
  • assist with studio maintenance, equipment preparation, and session scheduling
  • manage media files and data, including ingesting, organising, and preparing for post-production
  • support editing and post-production tasks using standard university software
  • document production workflows, equipment configurations, and technical setups
  • ensure compliance with WHS policies and safe handling of equipment
  • Perform routine tasks independently and escalate complex issues to senior technical staff.

About you

  • strong interest in hands-on media production and eagerness to learn new technologies and workflows
  • confident operation of video, audio, and lighting equipment in both studio and location environments
  • ability to work independently and collaboratively, following established procedures and contributing to team projects
  • reliable time management and organisational skills to meet production schedules and prepare equipment
  • clear and effective communication for documenting workflows and coordinating with colleagues
  • high attention to detail in managing media files, equipment configurations, and technical setups
  • flexibility to adapt to changing project requirements and evolving technologies
  • Commitment to safe working practices and adherence to WHS policies.
