Position Summary
The Retail Food Service Associate Lead is responsible for leading the daily food production and order fulfillment operations within the retail dining location. This position ensures that all menu items are prepared according to standardized recipes, food safety standards, and quality expectations while maintaining efficient service during peak business hours. in a timely manner. In addition to food production, the Lead supports all areas of the retail operation, including stocking, cleaning, inventory, and customer service.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Food Production and Order Fulfillment
- Lead daily food preparation and production activities within the retail operation.
- Prepare menu items according to standardized recipes, portion sizes, and quality standards.
- Coordinate food production to ensure customer orders are completed accurately and efficiently.
- Monitor ticket times and ensure all orders are prepared and served in a timely manner.
- Prioritize incoming orders while maintaining accuracy and food quality.
- Verify all orders are complete before they are served or packaged.
- Maintain consistency in food presentation and product quality throughout each shift.
Leadership and Team Support
- Provide daily direction and guidance to Food Service Associates during assigned shifts.
- Assist with training new employees on recipes, food preparation techniques, safety procedures, and department expectations.
- Encourage teamwork and assist staff during high-volume service periods.
- Communicate effectively with cashiers, supervisors, and kitchen staff to ensure smooth operations.
- Notify the Retail Supervisor of equipment issues, supply shortages, or operational concerns.
Food Quality and Safety
- Ensure all food is prepared to proper temperatures and according to food safety guidelines.
- Monitor portion control to reduce waste and maintain consistency.
- Ensure all food is properly labeled, dated, rotated, and stored using the First In, First Out (FIFO) method.
- Maintain compliance with ServSafe, HACCP, and health department regulations.
- Ensure workstations remain clean, sanitized, and organized throughout the shift.
Inventory and Stocking
- Restock food products, paper supplies, condiments, and ingredients as needed.
- Monitor inventory levels and communicate replenishment needs to the Retail Supervisor.
- Assist with receiving and properly storing deliveries.
- Help minimize waste through proper product rotation and inventory management.
Customer Service
- Assist customers in a courteous and professional manner when needed.
- Respond promptly to special requests while maintaining food quality and service standards.
- Support the cashier and front-of-house staff during busy periods.
- Help resolve customer concerns by working with the Retail Supervisor.
Additional Responsibilities
- Assist with opening and closing procedures.
- Help maintain cleanliness throughout the kitchen, service line, storage areas, and dining area.
- Support campus catering events and other Dining Services operations as assigned.
- Cross-train in multiple retail and dining service functions to provide operational support.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Minimum of one year of food service experience; leadership experience preferred.
- Knowledge of food preparation, sanitation, and safe food handling practices。
- ServSafe Certification preferred or ability to obtain within the required timeframe.
- Strong organizational, communication, and time management skills.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrated leadership, dependability, and problem-solving abilities.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Frequently lift up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to bend, reach, stoop, push, pull, and work in hot and cold environments.
- Ability to safely operate commercial kitchen equipment.
Work Schedule
Must be available to work mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays, and special events as required. Schedule may vary based on operational needs.
