Join the heart of campus life at the University of Arizona Student Unions, where culinary creativity meets community. We're seeking a passionate Dining Services Supervisor to bring their skills to our dynamic team.

Your Role: The Dining Services Supervisor oversees the daily operations of our Starbucks Cafe, supervising Baristas, Cashiers, and Student employees while maintaining a flexible schedule. Responsibilities include staff supervision, training, and ensuring adherence to both Starbucks and University policies. Manages ordering, receiving, and inventory with a focus on cost control and efficiency, while upholding high standards of food safety, sanitation, and customer service.

Duties & Responsibilities

Operational:

  • Assists the manager with daily operations (front and back of house), including ordering, inventory control, food preparation, budgeting, food and labor costs, and profit & loss development.
  • Manages merchandising, receives and distributes materials.
  • Completes records and reports related to inventory.

Staff Supervision & Scheduling:

  • Hires, trains, and schedules staff; monitors their performance and communicates oral and written instructions.
  • Notifies management of any issues requiring corrective action and ensures all team members follow established procedures.

Customer Service & Quality Control:

  • Leads and monitors customer service practices within the unit, develops and implements new ideas to improve service, and addresses customer complaints and quality issues promptly.
  • Lead and monitor effective customer service practices within the unit.

Compliance & Cash Handling:

  • Enforces departmental cash handling procedures and ensures compliance.
  • Oversees proper enforcement of operational policies and communicates any process issues to the appropriate personnel.
  • Ensures the maintenance, orders and receives materials and supplies via the Culinary Services procurement and distribution system.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to interpret instructions and perform basic arithmetic calculations, typically acquired through the completion of a high school education or equivalent education and experience.
  • Experience in group leadership and knowledge of computerized inventory control systems.
  • Knowledge in scheduling, customer relations, and maintaining cash flow security is desired.
  • Experience in food service production, culinary and service techniques and standards.

Physical Requirements:

  • Regularly subject to conditions associated with indoor food preparation, storage, and service areas, including exposure to mechanical parts, heat and cold.
  • Ability to lift/transport a maximum of 50lbs.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through professional level experience required.
  • Minimum of 3 years of related work experience or equivalent combination of education and work experience required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience managing, supervising or leading in a franchise Coffee house, with high volume sales.
