Salary Range

$85,000.00 depending on qualifications

Essential Functions

The University of Texas Permian Basin has announced a new behavioral health grant program to create a stronger workforce for the region. The Director will work with 4 academic graduate programs across three Colleges to recruit, support, and coordinate elements of BHG program. This new position will work with the communication, graduate studies, student financial aid and program stakeholders teams as well as faculty and staff to develop and implement strategic recruitment, outreach, marketing, and communication plans for the following programs: MA in Counseling, MA in School Counseling, MA in Clinical Psychology, and Master of Social Work. Under the supervision of the Provost, the Director will lead the BHG project till its closure.

This position is responsible for leading, controlling, monitoring, project-related reporting on goals and objectives, and supervising its day-to-day operations. The Director will ensure that all the project objectives are achieved within the five-year project life cycle. The Director will collaborate with the other stakeholders on data and formative evaluation, adjusting project activities in conjunction with the Leadership Team, and others. The successful candidate will have significant decision-making authority and independence in prioritizing tasks, policy interpretation and will be expected to acquire familiarity with the specialized terms and practices of the university.

  • Perform controlling, monitoring, reporting, and supervising day-to-day operations of the BHG.
  • Work collaboratively with program coordinators, deans, and faculty along with university graduate admissions and communications teams to develop a comprehensive plan for recruitment, including long- and short-term goals and strategies.
  • Prepare periodic reports showing progress toward meeting BHG goals including recruitment targets.
  • Identify, recruit, and support enrollment for prospective students; conduct in-person visits; communicate by mail, email, telephone, and social media with prospective students.
  • Create original and engaging content for all platforms including social media; maintain, update, and share social media activity.
  • Track student success measures for students accepted in these programs. Support the scholarship selection committee, including administrative tasks of managing the process.
  • Prepare preliminary reports for internal and external stakeholders of this program.
  • Maintain and update college website pages and directory pages.
  • Organize recruitment events; coordinate and represent the college at Falcon Days and other recruitment events; connect with industry partners to identify potential students and alumni.
  • Work with Graduate Studies office to assist and identify any or all students related functions for the four behavioral health program.
  • Maintain proper and timely communication with the stakeholders, administrative units, and academic units involved in the project.
  • Identify and develop strategies to optimize the grants administration process.
  • Form point of contact with the granting agency for the project and provide the required data for assessment on the progress of the project objectives.
  • Track the progress of those project objectives and provide relevant data to the grantor.
  • Inform the campus stakeholders in time about any shortfalls in meeting the project objectives and advise about corrective actions.
  • Work with the graduate program coordinators, chairs and dean to maintain and manage proper advising of the project participants.
  • Prepare financial or budget plans and allocation per each requirement with the planning and finance department.
  • Analyze the budget trends and make recommendations for cost control and reduction for various grants.
  • Provide detailed reports concerning the organization's progress to the funders and the UTPB leadership.
  • Monitor paperwork and other related documents connected with grant-funded programs.
  • Maintain records of all payments and receivables and prepare monthly records for all grant-related activities.
  • Overview and finalize the project reports/presentations.
  • Maintain Liaison with UTPB Advancement office for submission.
  • Answer special requests or solve problems, routing senior staff members as appropriate.
  • Confer regularly with immediate supervisor to coordinate activities, exchange information, and resolve problems.
  • Maintain appropriate levels of swag and leave-behind inventory.

Required Qualifications

  • Master's degree required in education, counseling, public administration or similar field.
  • Three (3) years of experience in the areas of staff supervision; budget management; program development and evaluation; and reporting.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Doctoral degree
  • Demonstrated work experience of increasing enrollment, retention, and graduation rates in an academic setting
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft products and database systems.

  • Schedule: Generally, the hours for this position are Monday through Thursday, 7:30 - 5:30 pm; Friday, 8:00 am - 12:00 pm with a one-hour lunch. The individual holding this position may need to be available early morning, evening, and on weekends to meet the needs of the department.
  • Standard Working Conditions: Able to lift various materials up to 25 pounds on an occasional basis, etc.
