OFFICIAL TITLE: Director, Binienda Center for Civic Engagement
SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Associate Vice President for University and Community Engagement
SUPERVISION EXERCISED: Non-benefited employees
General Statement of Duties: The Binienda Center Director will be responsible for coordinating all aspects of the Center. The incumbent works closely with faculty and others to enhance civic learning opportunities for students, is responsible for outreach and agreement establishment with external partners, administration of programming, planning and executing faculty and staff development in the areas of service learning and civic engagement, coordinating institutional research efforts of civic engagement, holding events on campus that celebrate service, increasing communication with multiple constituencies, external partner agreement oversight, grant management, student recruitment, and program assessment and outcomes documentation.
Responsibilities:
- (E) Coordinates all aspects of the Center.
- (E) Plans and implements a robust series of student programming focused on civic engagement and learning.
- (E) Leads professional development activities for students, faculty and staff related to civic learning and partnership engagement, including the DC Student Leadership Program.
- (E) Collaborates with internal and external constituents related to the promotion and coordination of the program, including faculty, staff, and community partners.
- (E) Establishes, effectuates, and monitors memorandums of agreement and/or contracts with external partners for programming, attends events with community partners.
- (E) Plans and executes external funding strategy in collaboration with the finance and grants offices.
- (E) Tracks the extent of WSU's engagement in 5 areas; internships, practicums, clinical, service learning, and volunteerism using Collaboratory software.
- (E) Works with academic partners to grow the number of civic engagement courses and experiential learning opportunities.
- (E) Works with department chairs and/or academic deans to provide faculty development opportunities.
- (E) Collaborates with the Vice President for Student Affairs to ensure a smooth interface with student clubs and the career/internship office.
- (E) Contributes to the WSU Strategic Plan.
- (E) Contributes to Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action objectives.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
Required Qualifications:
- A minimum of 5-7 years' experience in service learning/ civic engagement.
- Knowledge of and/or experience coordinating college-based civic engagement programming.
- Demonstrates ability to work with organizations, businesses, and community partners in creating and sustaining productive partnerships.
- Ability to work well with diverse populations from varied backgrounds.
- Ability to traverse multiple bureaucratic agencies to accomplish goals.
- Strong attention to detail with ability to perform responsibilities without error.
- Ability to work independently, think critically, analyze information, and develop strategies to address issues, find solutions, and perform responsibilities with minimal support.
- Knowledge of higher education principles, practices, and procedures.
- Strong computer skills.
- Ability to successfully pass a thorough background and CORI check.
- Ability to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.
Preferred Qualification:
- Master's Degree.
- Experience working in higher education.

This is a full-time, benefited, exempt, professional APA position. The firm annual salary range for this position is $80,000-$85,000, commensurate with relevant professional experience and education.
