Director, Foundation & Preparatory Programs
JOB DESCRIPTION
Location: HCMC, Vietnam
Department: Vice President Academic, Innovation & Research
Report to: Vice President Academic, Innovation & Research, Millennia University
POSITION OVERVIEW
The Director, Foundation & Preparatory Programs at Millennia Education provides strategic, academic and operational leadership for all university foundations, pathway and preparatory programs. The role ensures that students who do not meet direct entry requirements, either English Language or academic are provided with high-quality, student centred engaging learning experience with clear progression into their chosen degree studies. The role also requires that students are integrated into the campus community and develop a strong sense of belonging to the university.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Strategic Leadership
- Develop and implement a mult-year strategy for foundation and pathway programs aligned to the universities’ vision
- Identify opportunities for growth, diversification and partnership development including articulation agreements and school partnerships
- Champion student centred and accessible practices across all programs
- Promote a culture of collaboration, innovation and excellence with staff and students
2. Program Delivery and Innovation
- Promote evidence-based, student centred pedagogy, including digital learning, inclusive teaching practices and active learning
- Lead the design of core language and introductory academic skills programs that are cross-disciplinary
- Provide high level advice on the identification and development of courses to be included in the Millennia Advantage Program of career and life skills
3. Student Experience and Success
- Ensure strong student support mechanisms, including orientation, academic advising, early alert systems and transition to degree programs
- Collaborate with other portfolios to integrate pathway students into the wider campus community
- Monitor student progression and success data and implement interventions to improve student outcomes and retention
- Provide high level advice on the design of formal and informal learning spaces for foundation and pathway programs
4. Stakeholder Management
- Collaborate with Faculties to ensure clear and coherent progression pathways into students chosen degree programs
- Work with admission, marketing and recruitment to communicate program value proposition and entry criteria
- Engage with external stakeholders including schools, pathway partners, government agencies and professional bodies
REQUIREMENTS
Qualification and Experience
- Postgraduate qualification in a relevant field
- Relevant teaching qualification
- Demonstrated experience in foundation and pathway education preferably in a university setting
- Significant experience in an education leadership role responsible for staff and operations

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- Establishment of pathway programs to all degree programs
- Enrollments into pathway programs increase year on year
- Establishment of an early warning system with interventions to improve student success
- Student success rates are measured by improved retention rates
