Director, Global Support

DIRECTOR, GLOBAL SUPPORT

Office of the Vice Provost for International Activities (VPIA), facilitates and coordinates efforts to address policy, process, and administrative issues that impact international program implementation; serves as chair of the International Coordinating Committee (ICC), the cross-departmental committee charged with supporting the MIT community in planning, negotiating, and implementing international activities, and manages the Institute’s elevated-risk review process. The Director is also responsible for strengthening the effectiveness and responsiveness of MIT support for its global activities, working closely with the Office of Strategic Alliances & Technology Transfer (OSATT), the Office of the Vice President for Research (VPR), Research Administration Services (RAS), the Office of General Counsel (OGC), and the Office of the Vice President for Finance (VPF). The Director also assists with the establishment and operation of new special purpose entities for international operations and represents the interests of OVPIA in MIT working groups and external forums.

Job Requirements

REQUIRED: Bachelor's degree and ten years of administration experience; relevant leadership experience; demonstrated ability to engage in critical decision-making, prioritize, and problem-solve; experience in the international arena and particularly in applying business operations approaches to non-profit environments and engagements; excellent organizational, inter-personal, presentation, and communication skills, both oral and written; ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and foster collaboration across diverse constituencies.; demonstrated ability to collaborate, build, and foster strong relationships with stakeholders at all levels: senior management, administrators, support staff, faculty, and students; and ability to multitask with time-sensitive matters under pressure. PREFERRED: Advanced degree and experience in higher education setting; proven business and financial management skills and experience developing and analyzing budgets to guide operational and strategic decision-making.
