Job Title: Director - Medical Modeling, Materials, and Manufacturing (M4)
Department: Engineering | Center for Design and Manufacturing Excellence
The Director, Medical Modeling, Materials, and Manufacturing (M4) for the Center for Design and Manufacturing Excellence (CDME) is responsible for providing leadership, direction, and oversight for all aspects of the M4 division; responsibilities include the development of industry and government proposals, distribution of labor on active projects, full project management for projects residing within the M4 division, and financial and personnel management and budgeting for M4 projects; integrates multidisciplinary fundamental and applied research opportunities with College of Engineering and College of Medicine faculty and staff, as well as other OSU faculty and CDME staff; responsible for ensuring sufficient funding is in place to support position and entire M4 division; manages relationships with philanthropic partners; supervises, manages and evaluates the performance of full-time engineers and student employees within the M4 division; works closely with industry partners, CDME engineers, university faculty, student researchers, and other stakeholders to ensure projects are completed per terms agreed upon during project scoping; utilizes technical expertise, business operations understanding and the ability to communicate technical matters in a clear and concise manner to manage and continue the expansion of the M4 division in a sustainable manner; collaborates with CDME, CoE & OSU marketing and communications personnel to promote the skills and equipment of the M4 division; works as an engineer on projects in support of customer goals; supports professional development and student program activities of CDME in area of expertise; performs special projects and other duties as assigned.
This position will require access to export controlled data and work in an export controlled facility. Eligibility for this position is restricted to “U.S. persons” as defined in U.S. export control regulations. “U.S. persons” include: (1) U.S. citizens or nationals; (2) permanent residents; (3) asylees or refugees; or (4) individuals otherwise described as “protected individuals” pursuant to Title 8 U.S. Code Section 1324b(a)(3)(b).

Education Required:
Bachelor's Degree: Major: Biomedical Engineering, Materials Science Engineering, or Manufacturing Engineering
Desired: Master's Degree: Major: Biomedical Engineering, Materials Science Engineering, or Manufacturing Engineering
Experience:
Required: 7 years of experience in a professional research environment with experience proposal writing and customer engagement; considerable experience in a R & D setting (i.e., planning and conducting R & D projects/programs in terms of technical and managerial functions)
Desired: 12 years of Experience in a progressively responsible supervisory capacity over direct reports or processes
The target hiring range for this job profile is $140,000 - $183,000. The actual salary paid to an individual will vary based on multiple factors, including but not limit to, education, years of experience, internal equity, etc.
