Job Description:
The Director of Nursing provides strategic vision and operational leadership for the College's Associate in Science in Nursing (ASN) and Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) programs. Reporting to the Dean of Health Sciences, this role is a cornerstone of the College's commitment to healthcare excellence. The Director serves as a proactive change agent, fostering a culture of innovation and academic rigor while ensuring the highest standards of regulatory compliance and student success.
- Assume leadership in organizing, administering, reviewing, developing, and assuring effectiveness of the Associate in Science in Nursing (ASN) and Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) programs.
- Lead the strategic planning and expansion of nursing programs to meet regional workforce demands.
- Evaluate ASN and BSN program goals, objectives, and educational outcomes for purposes of program operation and evaluation.
- Ensure program compliance with the Florida State Board of Nursing and the Florida Department of Education rules and regulations.
- Identify and pursue grant opportunities or external funding to support program innovation and student scholarships.
- Ensure compliance with the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) standards for accreditation; lead the faculty team in efforts to maintain accreditation status.
- Participate in ongoing program curriculum development.
- Prepare and manage the program budget, requesting and maintaining supplies and equipment needed for instruction.
- Prepare internal and external documentation and administrative reports.
- Coordinate and update agreements with area health care facilities to provide appropriate clinical learning sites for the ASN program.
- Track student clinical compliance (immunizations, CPR, etc.) in the platform adopted by the nursing programs and in other systems required by clinical facilities.
- Make recommendations and take appropriate action regarding nursing faculty/staff appointments, assignments, supervision, evaluation, and professional development activities.
- Develop and implement strategies for faculty retention and mentorship.
- Coordinate instructional activities (theory and clinical) within the program and between other programs and departments of the college.
- Supervise and assist with the admissions process and in recruiting, advising, and assisting students applying to and enrolling in the ASN and BSN programs.
- Serve as liaison with local nursing professionals and the community on all matters pertaining to the Nursing programs.
- Hold regularly scheduled Nursing Advisory Council meetings, prepare program reports for Council members, and work with members to maintain currency and relevance in the Nursing programs.
- Serve on college work groups as assigned and support other college initiatives.
- Participate in commencement ceremonies.
- Complete mandatory compliance training.
- Perform other duties as required.

Requirements:
- Master's degree in Nursing, Nursing Education, or closely related area required.
- Doctoral degree strongly preferred.
- Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse or Advanced Practice Registered Nurse in Florida or eligibility to obtain a Florida RN/APRN license required.
- Supervisory experience in nursing education at a higher education institution.
- College-level teaching experience in nursing education.
- Evidence of excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated interest in students and the ability to relate to students, faculty, and area health care providers.
- Must show capacity for professional growth and development.
- Experience with health program accreditation strongly preferred.
