Director of Clinical Education
Description
Governors State University is seeking to hire a Director of Clinical Education to perform the administrative functions relating to field clinical practicum in the Communication Disorders (CDIS) graduate program. The Director of Clinical Education assumes all administrative responsibility for field clinical practicum in Communication Disorders.
Essential Responsibilities
Organize and Oversee Implementation of Field Practicum (70%)
- Oversee graduate student practicum placements; secure clinical sites, provide guidance to site supervisors, develop affiliation agreements for off-campus locations, and serve as the liaison between the university and clinical partners.
- Collaborate with department faculty and chair to develop and schedule clinical practicums. Work together with CDIS faculty to develop practicum policies and procedures. Develop and maintain forms relevant to clinical practicum experiences, maintain the CDIS Practicum Manual, and update practicum information in the CDIS Graduate Student Handbook.
- Supervise and ensure compliance with all clinical education standards and accreditation requirements, maintaining accurate computer-based records for accrediting and regulatory agencies relative to field experience.
- Contribute to the Council for the Accreditation in Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology (CAA) accreditation process in areas related to clinical education and the collection of program assessment data.
- Manage student prerequisite documentation for entry into fieldwork experience and substantiate individual student clinical hours.
- Serve as a resource to graduate students and advisors in obtaining clinical observation hours (e.g., providing sites/locations for observation, access to Master Clinician, etc.). Provide pertinent information to students for the practicum experience.
- Lead CDIS clinical team in facilitating success for students across all phases of clinical practicum, including the provision of targeted support for students experiencing challenges to optimize successful completion of practicum.
Teaching/Clinical Supervision (20%)
- Responsible for supervision of students in field clinical practicum including direct on-site supervision in external placements and direction of practicum projects.
- May provide classroom instruction in addition to clinical supervision responsibilities.
Service (10%)
- Serve on department and college committees and otherwise be an integral member of the CDIS department, the College of Health and Human Services, and the university community.
Salary Range: $86,956.00 - $100,000.00.
This is a non-unionized position.
Full-time, on-campus position.
Monday through Friday
7.5-hour workday with an unpaid lunch.

Required and Preferred Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- Master's degree in speech-language pathology or related field.
- Five (5) to seven (7) years of professional clinical experience in speech-language pathology.
- ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence in speech-language pathology (CCC-SLP).
- Illinois Department of Professional Regulation license in speech-language pathology.
- One year of clinical supervisory experience.
Desired Education and Experience:
- Four (4) or more years of professional clinical experience in speech-language pathology or related field
- Two (2) or more years of clinical supervisory experience.
