Position Summary:
Yeshiva University announces its proposed new DDS program and is hiring new faculty and staff to support the school. The curriculum will integrate Digital Dentistry techniques to be taught by today's dental thought leaders and master clinicians. The school plans to provide a unique 36-month dental education program through an innovative 'Block' style curriculum, which will ensure in-depth learning and understanding. The Director of Clinical Education will provide strategic leadership, oversight, coordination, and continuous quality improvement of clinical education within the Yeshiva University College of Dental Medicine. This position ensures that the clinical learning environment supports the delivery of safe, ethical, patient-centered care and that predoctoral students achieve competence through appropriately supervised, assessed, and documented clinical experiences, consistent with CODA accreditation standards.
Reporting to the Associate Dean for Dental Education, the Director provides direct oversight of Group Practice Leaders and is accountable for ensuring that clinical supervision, student assessment, grading, and feedback are calibrated, consistent, and aligned with defined program competencies and evaluation criteria. The Director ensures that faculty involved in clinical teaching are appropriately trained, calibrated, and supported to evaluate student performance fairly and objectively across all clinical disciplines and group practice settings.
In collaboration with academic and clinical leadership, the Director monitors clinical education outcomes, assessment data, and grading patterns to identify variation, address deficiencies, and support continuous quality improvement in accordance with CODA requirements. The Director plays a key role in maintaining compliance with accreditation standards related to clinical instruction, evaluation, patient care, and program effectiveness, while advancing the College's mission to serve diverse and underserved patient populations.
Position Responsibilities:
Clinical Education and Patient Care
- Oversee clinical education on the clinic floor, mentoring students during patient care encounters, and ensuring ethical, patient-centered, and evidence-based practice.
- Ensure clinical practice leaders deliver integrated didactic and clinical instruction using mastery-based, evidence-driven teaching methods that actively engage learners and incorporate biomedical science principles.
- Oversee clinic operations as they relate to education, including workflows, chair utilization, and scheduling, to support patient access and high-quality student learning experiences.
- Establish and enforce clinical policies and procedures that support safe, compliant, and effective patient care in accordance with CODA standards, HIPAA, OSHA, and institutional requirements.
- Collaborate with the Infection Control Officer and Facilities teams to maintain a safe, compliant, and aseptic clinical environment.
Faculty Leadership and Student Assessment
- Lead calibration, development, and oversight of clinical faculty and clinical practice leaders to ensure consistency in supervision, instruction, assessment, and clinical decision-making.
- Mentor clinical faculty and clinical practice leaders in effective teaching, team leadership, and real-time supervision of students in the clinical setting.
- Collaborate with academic leadership to design, implement, and evaluate clinical competencies, milestones, and assessment methodologies.
- Monitor student clinical progress, productivity, and competency attainment, and participate in remediation, advancement, and disciplinary processes as appropriate.
- Ensure complete, accurate, and timely documentation of clinical care, learner performance, and instructional activities in compliance with institutional and regulatory requirements.
Administration, Planning, and Quality Improvement
- Participate in planning and budgeting related to clinical education, clinic capacity, facilities expansion, and equipment and technology needs.
- Support recruitment, onboarding, and integration of clinical faculty, clinical practice leaders, and staff in alignment with clinical education goals.
- Collaborate with EHR and data analytics teams to strengthen documentation standards, outcomes tracking, and quality assurance processes.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives to enhance clinical education effectiveness, patient care quality, and integration of interprofessional learning.
Community Engagement and External Partnerships
- Develop and maintain partnerships with external clinical sites and community organizations to support off-site rotations and community-based clinical education experiences.
- Represent the College of Dental Medicine in community outreach, public health initiatives, and oral health advocacy at the local and state levels.
Experience & Education Background:
Required Qualifications
- DDS or DMD degree from a CODA-accredited dental school.
- Active dental license in the State of New York or eligibility for New York State licensure.
- Minimum of ten years of experience in dental clinical practice and academic clinical administration.
- Demonstrated leadership and management experience within a clinical or academic setting.
- Working knowledge of accreditation standards, clinical compliance requirements, and continuous quality improvement processes.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience in an academic dental institution.
- Experience with clinical electronic health record systems.
- Experience with faculty calibration, student remediation, and clinical facility design.

- Collaboration and Communication: Proven ability to work effectively with faculty, students, clinical staff, and administrative partners.

- Problem Solving and Improvement: Ability to identify operational challenges and implement practical solutions that advance continuous improvement in clinical practice and education.
