Supervisor Expectations:
Director of Collection and Resource Services
Serve on the library's leadership team.
Provide leadership and guide the direction for the following areas: acquisitions, collection development, cataloging, electronic resources.
Supervise two faculty members and four staff members.
Lead initiatives that increase usability and make it easier for students to use resources independently.
Acquisitions
Responsible for purchasing library materials including the acquisition and renewal of electronic database package subscriptions, individual serials, standing orders, books, and other library materials.
Create and update ledgers. Monitor expenditures in the integrated library system (Alma) and VSU fiscal systems and create reports as needed.
Develop and maintain a positive working relationship with other campus entities including Procurement, Financial Services, and Budget Services.
Establish and maintain vendor relationships, communicate needs, stay current with new products, product improvements, access and licensing alternatives.
Collection Development
Coordinate collection development including reviewing usage of library resources, recommend adding or removing resources, and ensuring library collection supports curriculum.
Prepare library portion of accreditation reports and meet with visitation teams.
Scholarship, Professional Development, and Service
Maintain working knowledge of emerging trends in librarianship, acquisitions, and collection development.
Engage in service at the library, the university, state, and/or national level.
Participate in scholarship, research, and/or creative activities. Contribute to the development of the library profession through scholarship, presentations, and publications.
