Job Summary
The Director of Communications oversees the planning, development and execution of comprehensive communication programs that support the institution's strategic priorities. Manages multiple communication initiatives, coordinates cross-functional teams, and ensures that work products are delivered on time, on brand, and aligned with institutional goals.
Core Responsibilities
- Writes and edits various communications, including institutional reputation articles, thought leadership documents, and collateral materials to promote the institution, its leadership, its schools, and units.
- Develops and manages the execution of large and small-scale communications plans from initial concept through completion.
- Serves as lead editor to ensure the quality and continuity of messaging across communications platforms, including publications, web communications, media relations, social media, internal communications, and marketing collateral.
- Collaborates with media relations, social media, internal communications, multimedia/digital, and marketing professionals to design, develop, and execute highly impactful storytelling that fosters a positive impression of the university.
- Regularly reviews and maintains strategic messaging materials across the institution are regularly reviewed to ensure accuracy and brand standards.
- Maintains budgets and timelines related to specific projects.
- Oversees and evaluates analytics and impact of communications programs;
- Serves as a liaison to communications colleagues from other colleges, divisions, and units.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in a related field.
- Seven (7) years of related work experience.
