Position Summary:
Yeshiva University announces its proposed new DDS program and is hiring a new faculty and staff to support the school. The curriculum will integrate Digital Dentistry techniques to be taught by today's dental thought leaders and master clinicians. The school plans to provide a unique 36-month dental education program through an innovative 'Block' style curriculum, which will ensure in-depth learning and understanding. The Director of Complex Restorative Dentistry is a prosthodontist faculty leader responsible for the development and delivery of advanced restorative and prosthodontic education, with emphasis on complex clinical cases and comprehensive treatment planning. Reporting to the Director of Clinical Education, this role provides integrated didactic and clinical instruction using mastery-based, evidence-driven teaching methods that actively engage learners and incorporate biomedical science principles into patient-centered dental care. The Director oversees the clinical and educational aspects of complex restorative dentistry, supports faculty and students in advanced restorative and prosthodontic techniques, ensures high standards of patient care, and maintains complete, accurate, and timely documentation of clinical care, learner performance, and instructional activities in accordance with institutional policies and applicable regulatory requirements.
Position Responsibilities:
- Curriculum Development and Oversight: Lead the development, implementation, and assessment of the prosthodontics and complex restorative dentistry curriculum, with emphasis on fixed and removable prosthodontics, implant restorations, full-mouth rehabilitation, and comprehensive treatment planning.
- Integrated Didactic and Clinical Instruction: Provide coordinated didactic and clinical instruction using mastery-based, evidence-driven teaching approaches that actively engage learners and integrate biomedical science principles into patient-centered prosthodontic and restorative care.
- Clinical Practice Leadership: Oversee prosthodontic and complex restorative care delivery within the clinics, ensuring high standards of patient safety, quality, and clinical outcomes.
- Faculty and Student Support: Mentor, support, and calibrate faculty and students in prosthodontic principles, advanced restorative techniques, occlusion, esthetics, and interdisciplinary case management.
- Patient Case Management: Serve as the primary prosthodontic resource for complex restorative cases, including implant-supported restorations and multidisciplinary treatment plans, guiding case selection, sequencing, and execution.
- Quality Assurance and Continuous Improvement: Develop and implement quality assurance processes for prosthodontic and complex restorative care, monitor outcomes, and lead continuous improvement initiatives.
- Clinical and Educational Documentation: Ensure complete, accurate, and timely documentation of patient care, learner performance, and instructional activities in accordance with institutional policies, accreditation standards, and applicable regulatory requirements.
- Research and Innovation: Promote evidence-based prosthodontic practice and scholarly activity, supporting the incorporation of current literature, emerging materials, and advanced technologies into teaching and clinical care.
- Resource Management: Oversee prosthodontic materials, digital workflows, laboratory relationships, and equipment to support advanced restorative and implant-based care.
- Collaboration with Academic Leadership: Work closely with the Director of Clinical Education and other academic leaders to integrate restorative dentistry into the broader clinical curriculum.
Experience & Educational Background:
- DDS/DMD or equivalent degree from a CODA-accredited institution.
- Completion of a CODA-accredited postgraduate program in Prosthodontics.
- Board certification by the American Board of Prosthodontics (ABP) or eligibility for board certification.
- Eligibility for dental licensure in the state of New York.
- Minimum of 5 years of clinical experience in prosthodontics, including patient care, academic teaching, and curriculum development.
- Demonstrated excellence in didactic and clinical teaching at the predoctoral and/or postgraduate level.
- Familiarity with CODA accreditation standards and clinical competency-based assessment models.
