Job Description
The Harvard Art Museums seeks a facilities management professional to lead the team responsible for the care and management of its buildings, including a state-of-the-art museum. The role involves overseeing operations, developing knowledge of facilities, setting goals with the Deputy Director, managing a workforce, collaborating with departments, preparing budgets, overseeing projects, ensuring safety compliance, and participating in university planning.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Directs facilities operations to support museum goals.
- Develops knowledge of complex features like HVAC and lighting systems.
- Sets short- and long-range goals and provides strategic recommendations.
- Manages a workforce of approximately 20, including vendors.
- Maintains relationships with Safety & Security and other teams.
- Communicates with museum departments on planning and timelines.
- Prepares and manages budgets for operations and projects.
- Oversees construction, health, safety, and sustainability initiatives.
- Drives projects to completion and ensures compliance.
- Improves protocols for productivity.
- Oversees capital projects and university resiliency planning.
Qualifications:
BA/BS or equivalent with 10+ years in facilities management. Additional skills include knowledge of museum management, budget handling, MEP systems, staff supervision, communication, and relationship building.
