The University of Mount Olive is seeking a dynamic professional to fill the position of Financial Aid Director. The Director of Financial Aid is responsible for the comprehensive operation of the Financial Aid Office, including the implementation of all Title IV federal and state programs, procedures, and regulations.

Responsibilities include:

  • Oversees the daily operations needed to manage state and federal grants, loans, scholarships, and student employment programs. Identifies issues and implements effective solutions.
  • Oversees the supervision of office personnel, including student employees, and works to promulgate efficient office workflow by delegating work assignments to accomplish office objectives.
  • Charged with maintaining a thorough knowledge of Title IV and state aid programs and must stay up-to-date with federal/state rules and regulations to ensure compliance requirements are met.
  • Responsible for maintaining a thorough knowledge of University policies that relate to the administration of financial aid, such as, but not limited to: admissions, enrollment objectives, academic credit requirements, academic suspension/probation, withdrawal, and refund policies.
  • Directs processing of aid applications, including determining eligibility, award amounts, and notification of students' award; prepares documentation, validations, and resolves student appeals. Reviews and assesses eligibility of applications for financial aid by completing file verification involving the review of financial statements, tax return information, and other relevant documentation as required by Title IV regulations; packages and awards aid using PFaids software.
  • Prepares and administers departmental budget; assists with university budget matters relative to financial aid and other funding
  • Responsible for monitoring and reconciling the federal and state grants, work-study, and internal and external scholarships funds on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis with the Accounting and Student Accounts Offices
  • Works collaboratively with the University’s IT personnel on installation timing of all Pfaids Financial Aid updates and participates in testing of all programs, as applicable, before running processes in production mode
  • Responsible for administering the annual Pfaids financial aid setup. Identifies Pfaids issues related to financial aid processing, reporting systems, Pfaids-generated communication, budget, packaging/awarding, and disbursement of aid funds, etc.
  • Responsible for supervising the PFaids processes related to uploading FAFSA information into PFaids.
  • Responsible for running end of term Satisfactory Academic Progress process and delegating the work needed to determine continued aid eligibility and communication to students
  • Works to create system queries to assist with the day-to-day operation of the office, federal, state, and institutional aid processing
  • Participates in the collection, management, and reporting of data by the objectives of the position; participates in the development and implementation of data management systems and procedures, as appropriate
  • Responsible for the preparation and submission of the annual FISAP report for the U.S. Department of Education, IPEDS Financial Aid reporting, as well as other federal/state required reporting.
  • Works with other campus offices to assist with meeting their reporting requirements
  • Works to meet A133 audit requirements and requests from external auditing agencies. Primary contact for the compliance portion of the audit
  • Serves as liaison with campus departments, outside agencies, and stakeholders who have an interest in the Financial Aid Office or the University
  • Provide a lead role in advisement to students and their families regarding available financial aid opportunities, eligibility requirements, and application processes
  • The Director is responsible for establishing and maintaining excellent customer service standards within the department, securing and developing professional staff members, and managing the day-to-day operations of the department
  • Expected to deal with and resolve complex financial aid issues
  • Handles inquiries, researches issues, and resolves transaction-related problems for the unit while serving as a liaison to address day-to-day administrative and operational matters
  • Participates in Financial Aid workshops and/or presentations for current and prospective students on campus and at surrounding schools and communities in the University's service area
  • Completes all required training and professional development sponsored by Federal Student Aid Programs, State Education Assistance Authority, and the University
  • Oversee the determination of aid eligibility and the packaging and disbursement of student financial aid per guidelines and regulations provided by the University, federal and state governments, National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), and other private funding agencies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualification:

  • Preferred Master’s Degree, required Bachelor’s Degree
  • Seven years’ experience in Financial Aid with a record of progressive responsibility
