Director of Grants and Resource Development
Description
The Director of Grants and Resource Development plans, coordinates, and administers activities related to grant acquisition and resource development. The position research funding opportunities from federal, state, local, corporate, and foundation sources; assists faculty and staff with proposal development; manages grant submissions; and ensures compliance with reporting and fiscal requirements. The director also works with college leadership to align funding opportunities with strategic priorities. Excellent communication skills are required to coordinate campus-wide efforts and develop effective networks with other agencies. Exceptional skills in research, synthesis of information, writing, and editing are needed to develop successful proposals.

Essential Functions
Grant Development
- Research, evaluate, and pursue federal, state, local, corporate, and foundation funding opportunities that align with institutional priorities and strategic goals.
- Lead the development, writing, editing, and submission of competitive grant proposals to secure external funding for academic programs, workforce initiatives, student support services, technology enhancements, and capital projects.
- Coordinate cross-functional proposal teams consisting of faculty, administrators, finance staff, and community partners to develop compelling project narratives and measurable outcomes.
- Develop comprehensive grant budgets and budget justifications that meet sponsor requirements and support successful project implementation.
- Maintain a centralized grants calendar to track funding opportunities, proposal deadlines, reporting requirements, and award periods.
- Provide technical assistance and training to faculty and staff regarding grant development processes, funding guidelines, and proposal best practices.
Grant Management
- Oversee post-award administration to ensure compliance with sponsor regulations, institutional policies, and financial requirements.
- Monitor grant-funded projects to ensure objectives, deliverables, timelines, and performance measures are achieved.
- Collaborate with business and finance office to track expenditures, monitor budgets, and ensure responsible stewardship of grant funds.
- Prepare and submit accurate progress reports, performance reports, financial reports, and closeout documentation to funding agencies.
- Establish systems for grant tracking, record retention, data collection, and performance monitoring.
- Coordinate internal and external audits, program reviews, and compliance assessments related to grant-funded activities.
Resource Development
- Build and maintain strategic relationships with government agencies, foundations, corporations, nonprofit organizations, and community stakeholders to expand funding opportunities.
- Identify and cultivate partnerships that support workforce development, economic development, student success, and community engagement initiatives.
- Collaborate with college leadership to diversify revenue streams through grants, sponsorships, donations, and collaborative funding opportunities.
- Represent the college at community meetings, professional associations, grant workshops, and funding conferences.
- Develop resource development strategies that strengthen institutional capacity and support long-term sustainability.
- Foster partnerships with industry leaders and employers to secure resources that support academic and workforce training programs.
Leadership and Administration
- Provide leadership and direction for grant development and resource development functions across the institution.
- Supervise grant staff, project directors, consultants, and support personnel as assigned.
- Develop policies, procedures, and operational guidelines that promote effective grants management and compliance.
- Facilitate collaboration among academic, workforce development, student services, and administrative departments.
- Manage departmental budgets and allocate resources to maximize efficiency and effectiveness.
- Promote a culture of innovation, collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement in pursuit of external funding opportunities.
Strategic Planning
- Serve as a strategic advisor to executive leadership regarding emerging funding trends, legislative priorities, and grant opportunities.
- Align grant-seeking activities with the college's mission, strategic plan, accreditation requirements, and institutional objectives.
- Analyze funding data and grant outcomes to assess program effectiveness and support evidence-based decision-making.
- Develop annual grant development plans, funding targets, and performance metrics to measure institutional success.
- Prepare executive reports and presentations that communicate grant activity, funding results, and return on investment to senior leadership and governing boards.
- Lead continuous improvement efforts to strengthen grant processes, enhance institutional competitiveness, and increase external funding capacity.
Additional Responsibilities
Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor and President. Must maintain confidentiality and discretion.
