Under the leadership of Professor Larry Kramer as the President and Vice-Chancellor, the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) is seeking to appoint a Director of Human Resources (HRD).

The HRD reports directly to the Chief Operating Officer and Head of Administration (COO) and is responsible for developing and delivering an HR strategy that supports the School's overall objectives and long-term sustainability. The successful candidate will work closely with the COO and the School Management Committee, providing advice and constructive challenge on workforce, leadership and employment-related risks. They will ensure that the HR strategy leads to improvements in organisational performance, staff experience and inclusion, supporting a culture that enables staff to contribute effectively and work collaboratively.

This appointment plays a key role in strengthening organisational effectiveness through workforce planning, organisational design and development of leadership and talent pipelines. The incumbent will also work closely with the COO to shape organisational change and play a leading part in supporting the delivery of the School's administrative transformation programme (the Operations Excellence Programme).

Candidates will have significant leadership experience, leading HR and organisational development and change. They will have strong experience of working in unionised environments and have a track record of shaping and delivering HR strategy aligned to organisational priorities, transformation and long-term resilience.

Expert in delivering contemporary HR practice in a digital world, candidates must demonstrate evidence of developing and implementing policies and practices to deliver high-quality, user-focused and responsive HR services in a complex organisation.
