Job Details
Bermuda College invites applications for the position of Director of Information Technology Services (DIT). This senior leadership role provides strategic direction and operational oversight for all information and educational technology systems supporting teaching, learning, student services, and administrative functions across the College. The DIT will play a key role in advancing the College’s mission to provide accessible, high-quality education and workforce development for Bermuda. The successful candidate will ensure that technology services are secure, resilient, and responsive to the evolving needs of students, faculty, and staff within a small island environment.
Reporting to executive leadership, the Director works collaboratively with academic departments, administrative units, government agencies, and external partners to drive digital innovation and institutional effectiveness.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic & Institutional Leadership
- Develop and implement a comprehensive technology strategy aligned with the College’s strategic priorities.
- Advise senior leadership on emerging technologies, cybersecurity risks, digital transformation, and IT investment planning.
- Ensuring technology initiatives support student success, operational efficiency, and long-term institutional sustainability.
Technology Operations & Infrastructure
- Oversee all IT operations, including network and telecommunications systems, enterprise applications, infrastructure, cybersecurity, and end-user support services.
- Ensure continuity of services in a college environment through effective business continuity planning.
- Manage relationships with technology vendors, offshore service providers, and regional partners.
Academic & Student Technology
- Partner with academic leadership to support learning management systems, instructional technologies, classroom technologies, and online/blended learning delivery.
- Promote equitable access to technology resources and services for all students, including remote and part-time learners.
- Support the use of data and systems to improve student retention, completion, and institutional outcomes.
Project Management & Digital Initiatives
- Lead and manage strategic IT and digital transformation projects.
- Conduct feasibility studies, cost-benefit analyses, and vendor evaluations for proposed technology initiatives.
- Ensure projects are on time, within budget, and aligned with institutional priorities.
Cybersecurity, Data Protection & Compliance
- Lead the College’s cybersecurity strategy, risk management, and incident response efforts.
- Ensure compliance with Bermuda laws, regulations, and public sector policies relating to data protection, privacy, accessibility, and records management.
- Establish and maintain sound data governance practices and standards.
People, Budget & Resource Management
- Lead, mentor, and develop IT staff while fostering a collaborative, customer-focused, and high-performance culture.
- Prepare and manage the technology budget, ensuring effective stewardship of public resources.
- Oversee procurement processes in accordance with Bermuda College Governance.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
- Senior-level leadership experience in information technology within higher education, the public sector, or a comparably complex organization.
- Demonstrated experience managing enterprise systems, infrastructure, cybersecurity, and IT service delivery.
- Strong understanding of instructional technology platforms and student information systems.
Preferred Expertise
- Experience within a community college, tertiary, or teaching-focused institution.
- Knowledge of accessibility standards and inclusive technology practices.
- Experience leading digital modernization and cloud-based initiatives.
- Familiarity with data analytics and reporting in educational or public sector environments.
