Director of Marketing

Classification: Exempt

Status: Full-time

Reports to: President

Supervises: NA

Position Summary:

The Director of Marketing provides strategic leadership for Kentucky Wesleyan College’s marketing, branding, and digital communications efforts. The position is responsible for developing and executing integrated marketing strategies that support enrollment growth, institutional reputation, fundraising, and community engagement.

The Director leads a modern, data-informed marketing operation with a strong emphasis on digital marketing, audience segmentation, brand consistency, and performance analytics. Working collaboratively with Admissions, Advancement, Academic Affairs, Athletics, and Student Life, the Director ensures that Kentucky Wesleyan’s story is told clearly, consistently, and compellingly across all platforms.

Job Functions:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive marketing strategy aligned with the College’s mission, strategic plan, and enrollment goals.
  • Provide leadership for all digital marketing efforts, including website strategy, SEO/SEM, paid digital advertising, social media, email marketing, CRM-supported campaigns, and marketing automation.
  • Oversee brand management to ensure consistent institutional voice, visual identity, and messaging across print, digital, and experiential platforms.
  • Partner closely with Enrollment Management to support undergraduate, graduate, and online recruitment through targeted campaigns, funnel optimization, and conversion analysis.
  • Lead content strategy, including storytelling, video, photography, written content, and campaign development that highlights academic quality, student outcomes, campus life, and institutional values.
  • Manage the college’s website and digital presence, including ongoing optimization for user experience, accessibility, and conversion.
  • Develop and manage the marketing budget, ensuring responsible allocation of resources and measurable return on investment.
  • Use analytics and performance metrics to evaluate campaign effectiveness and continuously refine strategy.
  • Collaborate with Advancement on donor communications, campaign branding, and alumni engagement initiatives.
  • Support Athletics, Academic Programs, and special initiatives with targeted marketing and promotional strategies.
  • Serve as a strategic advisor to senior leadership on marketing trends, institutional positioning, and reputational opportunities and risks.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, business, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated experience leading marketing initiatives with a strong emphasis on digital marketing and data-driven decision-making.
  • Proficiency in the applied use of artificial intelligence tools in marketing, including content generation, campaign optimization, audience analysis, and performance measurement.
  • Experience managing integrated marketing campaigns across multiple platforms.
  • Strong written, visual, and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate across departments and manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Experience supervising staff and managing external vendors or agencies.

Preferred Experience

  • Graduate education in marketing, communications, business, higher education, or a related field.
  • Experience in higher education marketing or enrollment-focused marketing environments.
  • Experience with CRM systems, marketing automation platforms, and digital analytics tools.
  • Demonstrated success supporting enrollment growth, brand repositioning, or major institutional initiatives.

Work Environment and Additional Requirements

  • Some travel may be required for recruitment initiatives, conferences, or partner engagements.
