Department Summary:

The University of Oregon Intercollegiate Athletic Department's primary purpose is to provide a unique opportunity for student-athletes to be developed, tested, and encouraged to reach their maximum potential in every aspect of their lives. It is the steadfast goal of the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics to provide the most outstanding student-athlete experience by helping them to achieve excellence, both in the classroom and in their chosen sport. The department has approximately 250 administrative & classified employees and hosts over 600,000 spectators annually, and represents the University of Oregon in athletic competition with other universities & colleges.

Position Summary:

The Director of Multimedia Integration (Director) will be responsible for several aspects crucial to sustaining the success of the University of Oregon athletics department. This position is responsible for creating and executing a creative/branding, digital, and social media strategy for Oregon Athletics by guiding a team to design and execute creative content to drive and enhance revenue through fan engagement, brand awareness, and communications and advertising strategy. The Director will oversee the student graphic design team. The Director will collaborate with other athletic department leaders on these strategies, resulting in marketing campaigns that will highlight the athletic department. In addition, this position will work strategically with other university offices to coordinate strategic digital communications campus-wide and leave a distinct footprint for the University of Oregon and its athletic department. This position will be highly visible and scrutinized if errors are committed or differ from the department's message. The Director will champion the Department of Athletics' digital communications initiatives in order to extend custom content across multiple platforms, including, but not limited to web, mobile, social, video, broadcast, etc. The Director is responsible for the growth and development of influential media platforms as well as the enhancement of new social media trends (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, etc.) and opportunities to situate the Oregon athletic program in the optimal position to recruit and sign elite student-athletes to letters of intent. Additionally, this position must maintain the constant evolution of digital marketing, specifically related to social media, to keep the athletic department relevant in social spaces for high school track and field student-athletes. This position must maintain confidentiality regarding strategic campaigns with the athletic department's apparel provider and sensitive recruiting information. This position is also responsible for promoting the philosophy and objectives of the intercollegiate athletics program, including adherence to all department policies and procedures, as well as the rules and regulations of the university, Big Ten Conference, and the NCAA. Candidates with experience serving the needs of diverse populations are strongly desired. Additional Expectations of the Position: Obtain UO driver's certification within 90 days of employment and maintain it throughout employment with the Athletic Department.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Two years of experience working in graphic design for professional sports or intercollegiate athletics departments.
  • One year of experience creating multimedia content that has been integrated across multiple platforms.

Professional Competencies:

  • Demonstrated strong knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and creative communication skills.
  • Extensive knowledge of new media, and social media, and demonstrated abilities working with web-based content.
  • Ability to work well in a group and around events.
  • Ability to build relationships with outside (non-campus affiliated) companies and organizations.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in a design or marketing department within a Division I, 'Power 5' conference-affiliated athletic department.
  • Demonstrated understanding of advertising strategy.
  • Experience supervising student employees.
