Position Summary:

Yeshiva University announces its proposed new DDS program and is hiring new faculty and staff to support the school. The curriculum will integrate Digital Dentistry techniques to be taught by today's dental thought leaders and master clinicians. The school plans to provide a unique 36-month dental education program through an innovative 'Block' style curriculum, which will ensure in-depth learning and understanding. The Director of Prosthodontics is responsible for coordinating and delivering prosthodontic education within the dental school, with a focus on clinical instruction, curriculum implementation, and student competency development in restorative and reconstructive dentistry. This position supports the integration of prosthodontic principles into the predoctoral curriculum and ensures that instruction and patient care are grounded in evidence-based, patient-centered practices.

The Director provides direct supervision and instruction to students in prosthodontic diagnosis, treatment planning, and clinical execution, including fixed, removable, and implant-supported restorations. The role emphasizes appropriate case selection, consistent clinical standards, accurate documentation, and adherence to institutional policies to support high-quality patient care and effective clinical education. Reporting to the Director of Clinical Education, the Director of Prosthodontics collaborates with clinical faculty, course directors, and staff to promote consistency in teaching, evaluation, and clinical expectations. The position contributes to faculty calibration, supports continuous improvement of prosthodontic instruction, and assists in maintaining compliance with accreditation requirements related to clinical education and patient care.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Integrated Didactic and Clinical Instruction: Provide coordinated didactic and clinical instruction using mastery-based, evidence-driven teaching approaches that actively engage learners and integrate biomedical science principles into patient-centered prosthodontic and restorative care.
  • Clinical and Educational Documentation: Ensure complete, accurate, and timely documentation of patient care, learner performance, and instructional activities in accordance with institutional policies, accreditation standards, and applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Curriculum Development and Oversight: Design, implement, and evaluate the prosthodontics curriculum, ensuring alignment with accreditation standards and educational best practices.
  • Clinical Training and Supervision: Provide clinical oversight for prosthodontic training, guiding students in treatment planning, execution, and maintenance of complex restorative cases.
  • Patient Care and Treatment Standards: Develop and enforce protocols for patient care in prosthodontics, emphasizing safety, quality outcomes, and patient-centered care.
  • Faculty and Student Mentorship: Mentor and support faculty and students in prosthodontics, fostering professional growth and academic success.
  • Research and Innovation: Promote and support research initiatives in prosthodontics, integrating advancements into the curriculum and clinical practices.
  • Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Work closely with other departments to integrate prosthodontics into interdisciplinary care and comprehensive treatment planning.
  • Resource and Equipment Management: Oversee the allocation, maintenance, and acquisition of prosthodontic equipment and materials, ensuring efficiency and availability.
  • Community Engagement and Outreach: Develop and participate in programs that enhance access to prosthodontic care and promote oral health within the community.

Experience & Educational Background:

  • DDS/DMD or equivalent degree from a CODA-accredited institution.
  • Completion of a CODA-accredited postgraduate program in Prosthodontics.
  • Eligibility for dental licensure in New York State.
  • Minimum of 5 years of clinical experience in prosthodontics, including patient care, academic teaching, and curriculum development.
  • Demonstrated experience in didactic and clinical teaching at the predoctoral and/or postgraduate level and compliance with CODA and institutional accreditation standards.
  • Familiarity with HIPAA, FERPA, OSHA, and laws/regulations pertaining to the practice of dentistry in New York State.
