Job Summary
The Director of Recruitment and Student Employment reports to the Associate Vice President for Human Resources and provides strategic leadership for the University's recruitment and student employment functions. This position is responsible for modernizing and standardizing recruitment practices, centralizing onboarding, and ensuring compliance with employment regulations. In addition, the Director will play a critical role in implementing recruitment and onboarding functions of the University's new HR technology platform (NEOED) and driving process improvements aligned with the University's strategic plan.

- Direct recruitment operations by maintaining visibility into all open requisitions, monitoring hiring activity, forecasting talent needs, and ensuring recruiters meet established service-level and hiring targets.
- Lead full life-cycle recruitment of all staff and administrative positions including full-time, part-time, and temporary roles, partnering with academic and administrative leaders to attract, assess, and hire high-caliber talent that supports institutional priorities.
- Direct oversight of the student employment function, including work-study and non-work study student positions, as well as graduate assistantships across academic and operational units.
- Centralize and standardize onboarding processes to ensure a consistent, high-quality experience for all new employees, including development of onboarding plans and resources.
- Drive implementation and optimization of NEOED, including configuration of recruitment and onboarding workflows, training for hiring managers, and change management strategies.
- Develop and enforce standardized hiring practices across the University; design and deliver training programs for hiring managers to ensure compliance and best practices.
- Manage immigration sponsorship and compliance for faculty and administrators, including visa processing and related documentation.
- Continually review recruitment strategies to position the University as an employer of choice and attract diverse, talented applicant pools.
- Collaborate with hiring managers to identify outreach and sourcing initiatives; oversee internal and external advertising strategies.
- Serve as the HR liaison and/or sit on search committees for executive-level searches.
- Negotiate offers on behalf of hiring managers, considering market data and internal equity.
- Maintain compliance with employment laws and communicate updates to hiring managers.
- Analyze and report recruitment metrics to inform strategic decisions and continuous improvement.
Supervisory Responsibility
This position manages 3 employees in the Recruitment and Student Employment function and is responsible for the hiring and performance management of the employees in this department.

- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and flexibility.
- Technological proficiency and ability to lead system implementations.
- Sound judgment and decision-making skills.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree required; master's degree in a related field preferred.
- At least 7 years of experience with an emphasis in recruiting and employment activities, and 3-5 years of experience leading a recruitment team and/or function. Professional experience in the higher education sector a plus.
- Technologically proficient; experience with applicant tracking systems.

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as personal computers, printers, etc.
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand, move about, sit, to carry work and use controls, reach with hands and arms, climb stairs, communicate.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. This role may be eligible for hybrid/remote work 1-2 days per week after a 3-month orientation period, with the understanding that the person in role will be required to report to campus for interviews, trainings, workshops, and other work-related meetings or events as determined by business needs or other circumstances.
Travel
Travel is primarily local and may include visits to the other NY campuses.
